For more information, contact 706-788-3477. •The Tri-County Ministerial Association will hold its month ly meeting Saturday, Aug. 1, in the BJC Medical Center’s con ference room. All ministers, lay persons and missionaries from Banks, Jackson and Madison County are invited to attend. •New Hope Baptist Church, of Royston, will host a “Rebirth to Renewal” for Sunday School Saturday, Aug. 1, beginning at 5 p.m. Organizers say there will be door prizes, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, inflatables and an appearance by “Buttons the Clown.” The church is locat ed at 1679 Shirley Road, near Royston. •Hudson River Baptist Church will have its homecom ing, Sunday, Aug. 2. Service and singing will begin at 10:30 a.m. with special singing by The Maxwells. A covered dish lunch will be served after the service. Everyone is invited to come join the good time with old friends and new friends, church leaders said. The Rev. Troy Herbert is pastor. The church is collecting school supplies for needy children. “Please bring your friends and family and join us at 11 a.m. for worship, with food and fun following the ser vice,” church leaders said. Rock Solid Follower services are also being held Wednesday nights from 6:45-8 p.m. All children are invited to attend, church leaders said. Those who would like to donate school supplies but are unable to attend, can call Michelle at 706-340-9518 or donations can be dropped off Wednesday evenings at the church fellowship hall from 6-8 p.m. Oak Grove is located on Hwy. 172 near Comer. •Colbert Grove Baptist Church will celebrate home coming Sunday, Aug. 22, begin ning at 11 a.m. The Rev. Roy L. Thomas and Waggoner's Grove Baptist Church will conduct the 3 p.m. service. Dinner will be served between services, church leaders said. Revival services will be held Monday, Aug. 3, through Friday, Aug. 7, at 7:30 p.m. each evening. The Rev. Dante Smith, pastor of Mt. Sanai Baptist Church and Booker Chapel, will be the guest minister for the week. The church is located on Colbert Grove Church Road and the pastor is Rev. David L. Sims. •Friendship Baptist Church will have homecom ing services Sunday, Aug. 2, beginning with Sunday School at 10 a.m. and the morning worship service at 11 a.m. A covered dish lunch will be served following the morning service, church leaders said. The children’s church will attend the regular service for this special occa sion, leaders noted. The church choir will provide special music led by Billy Jones, Friendship’s own Friendly Five Quartet and some children of the church. The Friendly Five Quartet con sists of pianist Phyllis Bryant, tenor Billy Jones, bass Laveme Watson, alto Barbara Dove and soprano Clayton Bryant. Pastor Larry Elliott and pastor emeri tus Dayton N. Logan will bring the worship message. Pastor Elliott has been at Friendship since 2004, leaders noted and he actively serves in the Madison County Ministerial Association and also the Sarepta Baptist Association. Pastor Elliott was previously at West End Baptist in Athens for approximately 10 years and served in several other northeast Georgia church prior to that. Pastor emeritus Logan served at Friendship for 45 years, from 1950 to 1995, according to church leaders. “Everyone is invited and wel come to come help us celebrate the 105 th anniversary of serving our Lord Jesus Christ,” church leaders said. Gordon’s Chapel United Methodist Church will hold their homecoming services Sunday, Aug. 9, at 11 a.m. Gordon’s Chapel pastor, the Rev. Bill Coady, will be the speaker. •Attica Baptist Church, Athens, will hold its 100 th year homecoming Sunday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. The Marksman Quartet will perform “blue- grass gospel.” A fellowship luncheon will follow the ser vice. Visitors are encouraged to join in the fun and dress in “old fashioned” attire, lead ers state. Also, the church is moving forward with plans to construct a new 9,500-square- foot facility to be used for education, ministry, fellowship and youth activities. “Anyone who would like to support our efforts, please consider mak ing a donation,” leaders state. “Donations made in honor or memory of a loved one will receive an engraved nameplate on the building fund plaque to reside in the new space.” Donation levels for inclusion of a plaque are as follows: Bronze $100, Silver $500, Gold $1,000 and Platinum $5,000.
