JULY 30. 2009 On the Record Man faces drug, traffic charges Man stabs. kills puppy A Danielsvlle man was arrest ed last week on drug and traffic charges. David Curtis Dean. 40, 85 Grady Avenue, was charged with driving while license withdrawn/ suspended or revoked and pos session, manufacture, distribution, etc. Violation of the GA Controlled Substances Act (morphine). According to the incident report. Dean was pulled over for not hav ing a car tag on Hwy. 98 near CO Draper Road. As Deputy Michael Free asked Dean to step out of the car. the suspect remarked that one of his friends had left his medica tion in the vehicle. Dean’s pas senger turned out to be the owner of the car and gave permission for it to be searched. A pill bottle containing morphine sulfate was found in the car. In another arrest, Terrance Netkl Grant, 34,124 Flint Street, Comer, was charged with possession, manufacture, distribution, etc. VGCSA cocaine and a probation violation (original charges: DUI, driving with suspended license, etc.). According to the Comer Police Department. Chief Brent Zellner observed Grant walking East on Hwy 72 and knew he had an active warrant in Comer Municipal Court. He made contact with Grant and advised him of the war rant and placed him under arrest. Before being placed into Zellner’s patrol car, a check of his person produced a blue container with suspected crack cocaine inside of it. Grant was charged with pos session of cocaine along with the warrant. Other arrests on file at the sher iff’s office last week included: •Jarrett James Boerl, 18, 35 South Hickory Point, Hull, two counts of probation violation (original charges: three counts of entering an auto and one count of theft by taking, etc.). •Frederick Jermaine Brown, 23, 190 Mineral Springs Drive, Athens, housed for Oglethorpe County. •Zaccheus Faust, 18, 20 MLK Drive. Lexington, housed for Oglethorpe County. •John Robert Gordon Jr., 18, 107 Rocky Branch Hollow Road, Nicholson, bench warrant (origi nal charge: underage consump tion). •Timothy Jason Hammond. 28, 895 Poss Road. Comer, public drunkenness and disorderly con duct. •Deddrick Labron Haynes, 37, 150 Hawthorne Ext., Athens, sim ple battery FVA. •Richard Earl Helms, 44. 9050 Hwy. 106 South, Hull, bench war rant (original charge: obstruction). •Shonda Kaye Hill, 39, 433 Timber Ridge. Colbert, two counts of probation violation. •Douglas Eugene Holcomb, 61, 3332 Blacks Creek Church Road, Commerce, possession, manufac ture, distribution, etc. VGCSA. •David Mark Hosting, 30. 1730 Pine Valley Farm Road, Comer, probation violation and posses sion of methamphetamine. •Lois Renee Maddox, 31, 3510 Eley Road, Gibson, probation vio lation (original charges: forgery, financial identity card fraud, etc.), theft by receiving stolen property 15 counts of forgery in the first degree and four counts of forgery in the second degree. •Randall Eugene Parham. 42. 3545 Hwy. 98 East. Three injured in Spradin Mill Road wreck Three people were injured in a single-vehicle accident on Spratlin Mill Road July 18. According to the Athens Post of the Georgia State Patrol, Drenon Bushin, 37, Danielsville, lost control of his 2003 Chevy pickup as he negotiated a curve while traveling west on Spratlin Mill Road at approximately 5:15 p.m. The vehicle left the roadway, traveled down an embank ment and overturned, coming to rest up-side-down. Bushin and passengers Eric Bushin, 17, were seriously injured in the accident, while Micky Bushin, 5, received “visible” injuries, according to the State Patrol report. The patients were taken to Atlanta Medical Center and Athens Regional Medical Center. According to the State Patrol report, the driver and the 5-year-old passenger were properly restrained, while the 17-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt. David Cobble, 33, Winder, suffered life-threatening inju ries after he lost control of his vehicle and overturned. He was in critical condition Monday. Cobble was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured. Aggravated animal cruelty was reported on Williams Wilson Road near Hull last week. A man there reported that one of his roommate’s dogs had been killed. Deputy David Kidd responded to the scene, where a six-month old dachs hund puppy had been found stabbed behind his right ear. The dog was deceased and there was a lot of blood in the garage. The deputy noted that there was no blood leading into or out of the garage and that the dog appeared to have been killed there. The dog's owner said he suspected a neighbor who he has had an ongo ing argument with and that one of his dogs had been poisoned in the past. Another neighbor stated that the same neighbor is suspected to have killed one of their dogs. The report has been turned over to sheriff’s investigators. In another incident, deputy Alan Stratton was dispatched to Hwy. 98 West in reference to hit and run. When he arrived at the scene, a man told Stratton he was leaving Midway Grocery on Hwy. 98 on his motorcycle when he noticed a man he knows pulling out from a stop sign on Neese Commerce Road. He said he and the man had problems in the past and that the suspect had threatened to run over him if he ever caught him out on his motorcycle. The victim pulled to the shoulder of Hwy. 98 and got off his motorcycle and the suspect proceeded to run over it and then backed over the rear end of it. The suspect’s truck was later found abandoned on Wolf Creek Trail, with his wallet inside and one of the suspect’s boots was found a short distance away. The K-9 officer and dog tracked the man to his residence, but he was unable to be located. Warrants were taken for his arrest. Man charged with theft by receiving, VGCSA A man was arrested on Black’s Creek Church Road Monday and charged with theft by receiving stolen property and violation of Georgia’s Controlled Substance Act (VGCSA). According to a press release from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Douglas Eugene Holcomb was arrested after deputies issued a search warrant at 3332 Black’s Creek Church Road. The seizure included over 300 prescription pills, $4,300 in cash, one pistol and four vehicles. Also discovered were a stolen four wheeler and a stolen landscape trailer from Gwinnett County. Also arrested at the scene was Casey Couch, who had warrants out of Commerce. Correction: Due to a production error, last week’s arrest report was cut off in mid sentence. The report should have listed the following arrest: Mansoor White, 22, 786 Madinah Road, Commerce, bench warrant.
