Born in Hall County, she was the daughter of Jade and Holly Pethel of Jefferson. She had been dedi cated at the First Baptist Jefferson. Survivors in addition to her parents, include a sis ter, Emma Leann Pethel, Jefferson; grandparents, Freddie and Shirley Pethel, Jefferson, and Bob and Leann Burkquist, Roswell; aunts and uncles, Matthew and Andrea Pethel, Tom and Tracy Meritt and Kimberly Gunter. Private burial services will be held by the fam ily. A public memorial ser vice will be held Thursday, August 13, at 6 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Jefferson with Michael Helms officiating. Price, 85, died Friday, August 7, 2009, at McCall Hospice House. Born on July 29, 1924, in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Nora Smith Bonds. She was a former textile employee and later provided loving care for many children in her home. She was of the Presbyterian denomination and was the last member of her imme diate family. Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Price; and a son, Robert Lee Price. Graveside services were held Sunday, August 9, in Cannon Memorial Park in Fountain Inn, S.C. Evelyn Rawlings EDGEWATER, MD - Evelyn Ruth Rawlings, 68, died Monday, August 3, 2009, at University Hospital, Baltimore, Md., following sudden compli cations from a stroke. Born on February 8,1941, in Prince Georges County, Md., she lived many years in Edgewater, Md., moved to Danielsville in 1982, then back to Edgewater, Md. in 2006. She was a bookkeeper with Freestate Leasing Inc., in Edgewater, Md., and for 32 years was a tax preparer with H&R Block at vari ous loca tions in Maryland and Georgia. She was a member of the St. Andrews United Methodist Church, member of Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 226, Mayo, Md. She loved to travel, especially her trip to Cancun, also trips to Atlantic City, N.J., Quarter Auctions and slot machines, and read ing romance novels. Mrs. Rawlings was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Rawlings Sr.; a son, Harry Rawlings Jr.; brothers, Robert Tippett, Clarence Tippett and Eugene Tippett. Survivors include a son, Joseph Rawlings, Edgewater, Md.; daughter, Patricia Rawlings Bragg, Edgewater, Md.; brother, Bernard Tippett, Upper Marlboro, Md.; sisters, Helen Sweeney, Riva, Md., and Elizabeth Tucker, Upper Marlboro, Md.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was pre ceded in death in 1994 by her husband, Lamar Rowden. She had resided in Barrow County for most of her life, was a member of Bethabra Baptist Church, and served as an L.P.N. with Dr. F. A. Sims, Jr. in Lawrenceville. Survivors include chil dren, Carole Ivie, Winder, and Robert Wayne Rowden, Athens; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchil dren. (19080) ‘Buddy’ Rutledge WINDER - Hugh Addison “Buddy” Rutledge, Sr., 77, died Friday, August 7, 2009. Born in Barrow County, he was the son of the late Clifford Addison and Mildred Manus Rutledge. A member of Winder First Baptist Church, he was the co-owner of Rutledge Construction Company. He was past owner of the Winder Golf Course and he built several golf courses in the area. Survivors include his wife, Sara H. Rutledge, Winder; son and daugh- ter-in-law, Hugh Addison (Chip) Rutledge, Jr. and Jennie, Winder; daugh ter and son-in-law, Kathi and Billy Gunn, Braselton; grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth Gunn, Addison Gunn and Kadee Rutledge. Mr. Segars was preceded in death by a grandson, Griffin Segars. Born in Moss Point, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Richard Wheeler and Nettie May Cirlot Belin. She was retired from the Comer Manufacturing Company as a supervisor. Mrs. Seymour was preced ed in death by her husband, Sewell Lawrence Seymour; brothers, Louis Antoine Belin and Thomas Cirlot Belin; and a sister, Madora “Dora” Ella Waites. Survivors include a daugh ter and son-in-law, Marion and Wayne Brown, Comer; son, Sewell Lawrence “Larry” Seymour, Carlton; sister, Willie Clair “Billie” Webb; grandchildren, Lari Brown Scarborough, Colbert, Freda Brown and Jeff Atkinson, Colbert, David Wayne (Kasie Escoe) Brown, Crawford; great-grandchildren, Ethan Scarborough, Jacob “Jake” Scarborough and Travis Atkinson. Survivors include her husband, Fred Snipes; sisters, Ima Jo Phillips, Adelaine Cohran; step chil dren, Cynthia and Steve Wilson, Sylvia Snipes, Freda Bartlett, Eddie and Angie Snipes and Shirley and Tom Smith; 18 step- grandchildren; four step- great-grandchildren; and several nieces and neph ews. August 13, 2009. Edgar Roy Stewart HULL - Edgar Roy Stewart, 90, born September 29, 1918, in Oglethorpe County, died Sunday, August 9, 2009, at Athens Heritage Home, Athens. A lifelong resident of this area, he was a son of the late Nay Gunter and James Elijah Stewart. He was a homebuilder for many years, and had a major part in several renovations at Hull Baptist Church and several other church proj ects in the area. He was a deacon of Hull Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Glenn Brown Sunday School Class. Mr. Stewart was pre ceded in death by broth ers, Robert Russell Stewart, J.C. Stewart, Howard J. Stewart, and James Donald Stewart; sisters, Mattie Sue Prather and Lillian Gaynelle Peterman. Survivors include his wife, Mary Drake Stewart; daughters, Betty (Charles) Dooley and Alice (Morris) Bullock, all of Hull; brother, Jimmy Kelly Stewart, Hondo, Texas; sisters, Frances Duckworth, Colbert, Sarah Ellen Wages and Ruth Human, both of Athens; grandchildren, Daniel A. (081) ‘Kid’Terrell TOCCOA - John Henry “Kid” Terrell Jr., 84, died peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2009. Affectionately known as “Kid” to his family and friends, he was born April 23, 1925, the son of John Henry and Lula Hayes Terrell of Toccoa. One of University of Georgia’s most loyal and passionate friends, he played high school foot ball at Toccoa and finished his 12th year of school ing at Darlington Prep School, where he was the most valuable player in football. At UGA, he was president of the SAE fra ternity, a member of the InterFraternity Council and while on campus, estab lished himself as a lifetime season ticket holder. A veteran of the United States Navy during World War II, he became President and CEO of the Merchants & Farmers Bank of Madison County. He was chairman at the time of his death. He was president of the Comer Lions Club, a member of the Madison County Development Authority, member of the Board of Directors of Castleberry Foods of Augusta, Trust Company Bank of Northeast Georgia (now SunTrust Bank), and the Frances Wood Wilson Foundation of Decatur. He was president of the Touchdown Club of Athens and the Athens City Club, a member of Gridiron Secret Society, and an honorary member of the Georgia Letterman’s Club. He was a member and deacon of the First Presbyterian Church. In 2008, the University of Georgia chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame honored him with its Distinguished American Award. A founder and the first president of the Toccoa Bulldog Club, he was the creator and facilitator of one of Sanford Stadium’s most enthusiastic tailgate clubs. The ultimate tradi tionalist, he remained a loyal friend of The Varsity. Survivors include his wife, Elinor Tillman Terrell; children, Louise “Tootsie” Adams, John H. Terrell III (Mary Anna), Greta Terrell Covington (Stephen); a sis ter, Constance Terrell Ayers; grandchildren, Elinor Marie Adams, Howell Hayes Adams, John Henry Terrell IV, Cecile McKey Terrell, Wallace Knox Terrell, Louise Celeste Covington, Ann Harper Covington; brothers-in-law, Thomas McKey Tillman Jr. (Mary Catherine), and Dr. Billups Tillman (Gina); and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 9, at the Athens First Presbyterian Church with Glenn Doak officiating.
