host a sign language class
on Wednesday evenings at

•Comer Baptist Church will
hold its AWANA Bible Club
Kick-Off on Wednesday,

p.m. on the church grounds.
Families with children ages
3 through fourth grade are
invited to attend and sign-up
for AWANAS. “There will
be hot dogs and games, so
come join the fun at Comer
Baptist Church as we kick
off a new year of AWANAS,”
organizers said.
•Comer Baptist Church
will give away boxes of free
food through its "Here’s
Hope for the Hungry” minis
try Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 10
a.m. to 2 p.m. “Everyone is
welcome to come and receive
the free food,” church lead
ers said. A box of food will
feed a family of four for
three to four days, leaders

will have special speaker Bill
Saye Sunday, Aug. 30, at 11
a.m. and 6:30 p.m. “He was a
runaway at 12, gang member
at 13, gang leader at 15 and
in organized crime for over
15 years,” church leaders
said. “He was a ‘Drug King’
with the largest distribution
ring in America, but his life
changed when he was arrest
ed for first degree murder.”

•New Beginning Family
Worship Center will have
a bible study for women
entitled, “The Inheritance,”
beginning Tuesday, Sept.
1, from 6:45-8 p.m. and
each following Tuesday for
six weeks. Church leaders
say there is no cost for the
Bible study. “Everyone is
welcome to attend,” church
leaders said. The church is

•Canaan Baptist Church
will host a singing Sunday,
Aug. 30, at 10:30 a.m. fea
turing the group "Under
Grace.” The church is locat
ed at 980 Homestead Road
Danielsville.
•Carlton Baptist Church
will have an "Old Fashioned
Sunday” Aug. 30. It will
begin with a service of wor
ship that seeks to recreate
what it was like to come
to church during the 18th
century, including a cappella
hymn singing and a sermon
drawn from that historical
era. “Many Mansions,” writ
ten by Jonathan Edwards
in 1737, will be preached
by Rev. Dwight Duhon in
period dress (complete with
knickers). There will be a
covered dish lunch after the
morning service as well as
several games, including
horseshoes, watermelon seed
spitting, and the very popu
lar “frying pan toss” — for
women only. “The day will
close with Rev. Duhon per
forming a short concert in
the sanctuary, where he will
perform the local favorite
song he wrote, Carlton, GA
— a fitting end to a fun cele
bration!” organizers said. For

Barn will host a gospel sing

have its fourth-annual wom
en’s conference Monday,
Oct. 26, beginning at 7
p.m. The featured speaker

Pre-registration is $10 per

There is one free registration
for groups of ten or more,
church leaders said and each
registrant will receive a gift
bag. There will be drawings
for various door prizes (you

ily night supper for a small
cost from 5:45-6:30 p.m. and
GC2 Student Ministries for
seventh through twelfth grad
ers from 7 to 8:15 p.m. on

an auction/sale of baked
goods, canned foods and
crafts Sunday evening, Aug.
30, at 7 p.m. The activity
is sponsored by the United

work locally, nationally and
worldwide, organizers said.

have revival services Sept.
13-16. Services will begin
on Sunday morning at 10:45
a.m. and Dr. James Lee will
be the guest speaker for the
week. There will be special
music each night, according
to church leaders. Services
will be a 6 p.m. on Sunday
evening and at 7 p.m.
Monday through Wednesday.

•Whitehall Baptist Church
will have a singing Aug. 30,
at 6 p.m. featuring the youth
choir, along with other local

“Overcoming Challenges to

disposed to everlasting life,’
(Acts 13:48),” church leaders

tive from Jehovah’s Witnesses

Rains, will hold two talks, the
first, "How We Recommend
Ourselves as Ministers,” will
be held in the morning, fol
lowed by an afternoon talk
with the theme, “Highly
Esteem Your Ministry.” The
public is invited to attend and
no collections are ever taken,
