Funeral services were held
Sunday, August 30, in the cha
pel of Evans Funeral Home
with Mr. Mark Pruitt officiat
ing. Burial was in Jackson
Memorial Park.

arrangements.

Clarence Simmons
JEFFERSON - Clarence
Grover Simmons, 100, died
Sunday, August 30, 2009.
Born on August 19, 1909,
he was the son of the late
William and Laura Jane Smith
Simmons. He was a retired
farmer, truck driver, and was a
member of the Union Baptist
Church. Mr. Simmons was
preceded in death by his wife,
Ruby Faye Garrett Simmons;
a daughter, Vivian Wilkes;
and son, Douglas Simmons.
Survivors include daughters,
Olivia Baratta and Barbara
Pardue, both of Winder;
son, Clarence Simmons Jr.,
Jefferson; nine grandchildren;
and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, September 2, at
Union Baptist Church with
the Rev. Ronald Hewatt offi
ciating. Burial was in Barrow
Memorial Gardens. Honored
pallbearers were Derek
Pardue, Deron Pardue, Shawn
Simmons, Kyle Simmons,
Ryan Simmons and Mike
Simmons.
Evans Funeral Home,
Jefferson, was in charge of
arrangements.

Everett Styles
DANIELS VILLE - Everett
Styles, 73, died Monday,
August 24, 2009.
Born in Swain County,
N.C., he was
the son of the
late Porter and
Jesse Thomas
Styles. He was a retired TV
repairman, a United States
veteran of the Korean War,
and was of the Baptist denom
ination.
Survivors include
daughters, Joy Neveils,
Maysville, Lorraine Huppert,
Watkinsville, and Ashley
Styles, Warner Robins; broth
ers, Maurice Styles and
Curtis Styles, both of North
Carolina, and Porter Styles,
South Carolina; and four
grandchildren.
Graveside services were
held Friday, August 28,
from the Georgia National
Cemetery in Canton.
Little-Ward Funeral Home,
Commerce, was in charge of
arrangements.

Barbara Van Eck
WINDER - Barbara Joan
Van Eck, 74, died Monday,
August 31, 2009.
She was the daughter of the
late Walter Carl and Florence
Alnor Beyer. A former resi
dent of Chamblee, she had
resided in Winder for the
past six years. She was of the
Baptist denomination and was
a homemaker. Mrs. Van Eck
was preceded in death by her
husband, Crine Van Eck.
Survivors include chil
dren, Karen Van Eck, Atlanta,
Diane Roberts and Glenn Van
Eck, both of Winder; and
grandchildren, Harvey (Billy)
Roberts IV and Kelly Roberts,
both of Winder.
Graveside services were
held, Wednesday, September
2, at White Chapel Memorial
Gardens.
Carter Funeral Home,
Winder, was in charge of
arrangements.

‘Jim’Willis
JEFFERSON - James
Henry “Jim” Willis, 70, died
Wednesday, August 26, 2009.
Born on February 17, 1939,
in Miami,
Fla., he
was the son
of the late
John and
Mildred
Willis. He
was a gifted
machinist,
as well as
a walking
stick maker. He was a United
States Army veteran having
served in the Navy, and was
a proud member of American
Legion Post 56 in Jefferson.
Survivors include his lov
ing wife of 33 years, Susan
Eileen Willis, Jefferson; sons
and daughter-in-law, Mark
and Edina Willis, Idaho,
James M. Willis, Athens;
daughters and sons-in-law,
Bobbi and Michael Buchanan,
Kingman, Ariz., Renee and
Gennaro Folco, Buford, Jaime
and Nathan Rendelman,
Clarkesville, Tenn.; grand
children, Michael and Allissa
Buchanan, Olivia and Victoria
Willis; sister, Whilden and
Theron Cook, Ashburn.
Memorial services were
held Monday, August 31, in
the chapel of Evans Funeral
Home with the Rev. Danny
Newbern officiating.
