Danielsville woman charged with stabbing fiance
A Danielsville woman was
arrested last weekend after she
allegedly stabbed her fiance at
her residence.
Whitney Nora Fann, 24, 158
Crawford W. Long Street, was
charged with one count of
aggravated assault.
According to the incident
report, Deputy Jeff Vaughn
and other deputies were sum
moned to the residence where
Vaughn met with the victim,
bleeding from his left shoul
der, who said his fiance “just
went crazy and stabbed him.”
He said she then ran off behind
the house. EMS transported
the man to the hospital while
deputies went in search of
Fann. They reportedly found
her at a neighbor’s house,
where she told the officers
that her fiance was hitting her
on the face and that he took
her phone and threw it against
the kitchen wall. She said she
grabbed a kitchen knife and
“did whatever it took” to get
him off of her. When Vaughn
asked her a second time where
she was hit, she reportedly
said she was hit on the face
and chest. Deputies noted no
marks, bruising or other evi
dence that she was struck. She
also had her cell phone with
her.
In another arrest, Billy
Raymond Standridge, 29, of
65 James Lane, Danielsville,
was charged with one count
each of cruelty to children in
the second degree and battery
FVA.
According to the incident
report, deputies met with a
woman on James Lane in ref
erence to a domestic dispute.
Deputy Josh Smith noted
marks on the woman’s neck
which she said she got during
an altercation with Standridge
at a residence on Hwy. 174.
Their child was present and
also received injuries from the
altercation, according to the
report. Standridge was located
and transported to the Madison
County Jail.

Bomb threat reported at Madison Co. High School
Someone called Madison
County High School last
Thursday and stated there
was “a bomb in the build
ing." No specific details
were reportedly given.
Students were evacuated
and a search was conducted
by the sheriff’s office and
school officials. Nothing
was found and students
were allowed to resume
their normal schedules.
In a separate incident
investigated by the sher
iff’s department last week,
someone reported that
a black dog was chasing
people in Country Living
Mobile Home Park on Hwy.
72. The dog was penned up
by its owner after a deputy
was called. A copy of the
report was sent to animal
control.

a Lord and Stephens tent
and frame from Colbert
Cemetery. The structure is
valued at $1,800.

Hull man sentenced to six
years on drug charges
A Hull man was sentenced recently in Madison County
Superior Court to six years in jail on drag charges.
Timothy Demond Carruth, 33, was sentenced to six
years confinement and four years probation for posses
sion of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession,
manufacture or distribution of marijuana. He was sen
tenced to five years probation for possession of a firearm
or knife during the commission of a crime. Carruth was
also fined a total of $2,025.
•Lois Renee Maddox, 31, Dewy Rose, was sentenced
to two years confinement and eight years probation for
15 counts of forgery in the first degree and one count of
identity fraud; two years confinement and three years
probation for four counts of forgery in the second degree
and one year confinement for theft by receiving stolen
property. Maddox was also fined $350.
•Troy Christopher McGraw, 38, Athens, was sentenced
to five years confinement and 10 years probation for
burglary and possession of a schedule I or II controlled
substance. He was sentenced to five years confinement
for criminal damage to property in the second degree
and five years confinement and five years probation for
theft by receiving stolen property. He was also fined
$1,880.
•Rodney Wayne Baker, 47, Hull, was sentenced to two
years confinement and eight years probation for posses
sion of cocaine. He was fined $1,150. Charges of pos
session of tolls for the commission of a crime and open
container violation were dismissed.
•Salomon Bustamente, no age or address available,
was sentenced to five years probation and fined $790
for attempt to commit a felony. Charges of possession
of tools for the commission of a crime and criminal tres
pass were dismissed.

in cash, a cell phone, four cartons of cigarettes and a carton
of cigars. The clerk said the man, described as 6’2”, approxi
mately 300 pounds and wearing a Halloween skull mask
became increasingly nervous and left the store walking west
on Hanley Road.
In the second armed robbery, Deputy Klint Segars was
dispatched to Chandler Road where he met with man and a
woman who said that the man’s truck had been stolen by two
unknown black males.
According to the incident report, the woman said her
vehicle broke down on Burke Leachman Road and that she
called the man to help her. As they were putting fuel in the
vehicle, two men crossed a nearby fence and struck the man
on his head twice. The woman stated the men used some type
of stick or pipe to strike him with. They reportedly shoved
her to the ground, taking her purse and the man’s wallet.
The men then jumped in the man’s black four-door Dodge
Dakota with a drive-out tag and left the scene.
EMS was called to take the male victim to Athens Regional
for the large laceration on his head.

City of Comer
MUNICIPAL ELECTION
The City of Comer will hold municipal elections on November
3, 2009. The following offices are scheduled for election:
Mayor:
Incumbent: William E. Burroughs
Term of office will begin on Jan. 1, 2010 and end Dec. 31, 2011.
Councilperson District 1:
Incumbent: Melissa Yarbrough
Term of office will begin on Jan. 1, 2010 and end Dec. 31, 2013.
Councilperson District 4:
Incumbent: Laquita Bridges
Term of office will begin on Jan. 1, 2010 and end Dec. 31, 2013.
Candidates for Councilperson must be a resident of the
district for which they qualify. Qualifying will begin on
Monday, August 31, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. and will close on
Friday, September 4, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. at the Comer City
Hall at 70 Hwy. 72 E. during normal business hours. Section
21-2-131(a)(l)(A) of the State of Georgia Municipal Election
Code requires a qualification fee of $60 for mayoral
candidates and $45 for councilperson candidates.
