SEPTEMBER 24. 2009 On the Record Hull man gets 10 years probation for theft A Hull man was sentenced recently in Madison County Superior Court to 10 years pro bation for two counts of theft by taking. James Michael Self, 18, also received 10 hours of community service for both theft charges. He was also sentenced to five years probation and five hours of com munity service for two counts of criminal damage to property in the second degree. He was fined $117. Other Superior Court actions filed recently in the office of the Clerk of Superior Court include: •Shaquita Naika Robinson, 19, Atlanta, was sentenced to five years probation, 10 hours of community service and fined $235 for possession of cocaine (reduced from possession of cocaine with intent to distribute). She was also sentenced to one year probation and 10 hours of community service for posses sion of less than an ounce of marijuana (reduced from pos session, manufacture, distribu tion of marijuana). A charge of possession of hydrocodone was dismissed. •Tommy Wilson, 37, Hartwell, was sentenced to five years pro bation and fined $605 for vio lation of Georgia's Controlled Substance Act (VGCSA) — possession of methamphet- amine. A charge of possession of tools for the commission of a crime was dismissed. •Antonio Levar Wilkerson, 32, Hull, was sentenced to five years probation for possession of a schedule II controlled substance and one year probation for driv ing without vehicle registration, no proof of insurance and driv ing while license suspended or revoked. He was also fined $1,345. •Kenny Dalane Westmoreland, 25, Danielsville, was sentenced to five years probation for five counts of forgery in the first degree and was fined $520. •Dennie Shane Smith, 23, Carlton, was sentenced to five years probation for possession for two counts of possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and one year probation for disor derly conduct, drugs not in origi nal container and three counts of sale, distribution and possession of dangerous drugs. Smith was also fined $550. Smith was sen tenced to six years probation and fined $320 for theft by receiving stolen property. A charge of fail ure to appear was dismissed. •Robert Timothy Schlichting, 25, Colbert, was sentenced to five years probation and fined $235 for possession of metham- phetamine. Charges of operating a vehicle without a tag and no proof of insurance were dis missed. •Gregory Allen Reynolds, 27, Statham, was sentenced to five years probation and fined $185 for theft by taking a motor vehicle. •Jeremy Wayne Ray, 23, Nicholson, was sentenced to five years probation for VGCSA — possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and one year probation for speeding. He was also fined $740. •Jason Dean Meeler, 25, Nicholson, was sentenced to five years probation and fined $605 for possession of meth amphetamine. He received one year probation for theft by tak ing. Charges of possession of a schedule IV controlled sub stance, enter guard line or jail under the influence, possession of tools for the commission of a crime and possession of drugs not in original container were dismissed. •George Lee Jones, 27, Athens, was sentenced to six years probation for possession of cocaine and possession of ecstacy. He was sentenced to five years probation for two counts of obstruction of offi cers and one year probation for giving false information and obstruction of officers. He was also fined $1,387. •Aaron Lee Hardy, 32, Commerce, was sentenced to five years probation and fined $235 for possession of metham phetamine. •Kayla Nichole Haley, 21, Athens, was sentenced to five years probation for possession of cocaine and one year proba tion and five days confinement for DUI drugs. She was also fined $235. Charges of posses sion of tools for the commis sion of a crime, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and weaving over roadway were dismissed. •Sharon Hooper Glew, 42, Abbeville, S.C., was sentenced to three years probation and fined $185 for theft by taking. •William Blaine Epps, 26, Hull, was sentenced to five years probation, 15 hours of commu nity service and fines of $235 for possession of methamphet amine. Charges of possession of tools for the commission of a crime and obstruction of officers were dismissed. •James Robert Crisp, 19, Comer, was sentenced to 10 years probation and fined $235 for sale of marijuana. Charges of possession of methamphetamine and crossing the guard line with contraband were dismissed. •Daniel Lee Carter, 33, Maysville, was sentenced to two years probation for two counts of financial transaction card fraud. He was also fined $455. •Jeremy Lyndell Arnold, 24, Athens, was sentenced to five years probation and fined $697 for possession of methamphet amine. Charges of possession of tools for the commission of a crime and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana were dismissed. Two men, juvenile arrested for allegedly burglarizing church Two Hull men, along with a male juvenile, were arrested last week after surveillance tape allegedly showed them burglar izing a church. Dexter Rashad Swain, 21, and Santino Marquez Swain, 18, both of 361 Sanders Road, were charged with one count each of burglary and criminal trespass. A juvenile was also charged. According to the inci dent report. Deputy Matthew Pilkington was dispatched last Tuesday, Sept. 15, to Joy Baptist Church on Glenn Carrie Road in reference to a burglary. He met with the church pastor, who showed him where a window had been broken. A computer had been taken from the sanctu ary, along with four Dr. Peppers from the youth room. Several doors had also been kicked in. A video surveillance camera showed the three males inside the church at approximately 3:30 a.m. The pastor and youth pastor identified the suspects as having come to the church in the past to play basketball. In another arrest, a Hull man was taken to jail on family vio lence charges after deputies were called several times to his residence over the last week for domestic disputes. Joseph Raleigh Flanagan, 24, 117 Charlie Bolton Road, was charged with interference with a 911 call and criminal trespass FVA. According to the incident reports. Deputy Gary Floyd was called to the residence on Monday, Sept. 14, after Flanagan allegedly became angry at his aunt for refusing to give him $10. The aunt stated that he broke some plants on the porch and threw a pack of her cigarettes up on the roof. Flanagan told the deputy that he would calm down and his aunt stated that he could continue to stay there as long as he behaved and went to drug rehab. Deputy Jason Luke was called back to the residence on Sunday, this time for a domes tic dispute between Flanagan and his father. Once on scene, Flanagan's father told Deputy Luke that his son had ripped a phone cord from a wall jack as he (the father) was attempt ing to call 911 during an argu ment between them. Deputy Luke stated in the report that he had been at the residence on Saturday for a similar incident. Flanagan stated that his father came at him with a baseball bat and almost struck him in the head, and that's why he became angry. Flanagan also confessed to ripping the phone cord out of the wall. He was arrested and taken to the Madison County Jail. His father was advised of procedures to have him legally removed from the residence, according to the report. Equipment taken from chicken houses More than $3,000 worth of equipment was stolen from chicken houses on Hwy. 191 last week. Deputy Dennis Harbison met with the owner, who stated that a number of items were stolen from two chick en houses, including heat ers, an air compressor, miter saw, chain saw, electric feed motors and wire, after two padlocks were broken. In another incident, a man on Strickland Circle reported that his gray 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 pick up, valued at $19,000, had been stolen from his yard. In a third incident, the fire marshal was called to a sus pected arson at a vacant home on Elm Road in Carlton. Several incidents of vandal ism have been reported at the home, which has been vacant for about a year, according to the incident report.
