and yard sale Saturday, Oct.
10, from 8 a.m.-noon. All sale

•Bluestone Baptist Church
will host “old fashioned day”
Sunday, Oct. 11. Members and
visitors are encouraged to wear
their bibs and bonnets and to
“come as you were,” church
leaders said. Rev. Ray Jenkins
will preach in the 11 a.m. ser
vice. An afternoon hymn sing
ing will start at 2 p.m. and con
clude with a message by Rev.
Talmadge Ethridge. “Special
music will highlight the old-
fashioned gospel and believer's
hope of heaven,” church lead
ers said. Pastor George Lovely
and the people of Bluestone
Baptist Church “extend a
friendly invitation to all to come
and enjoy this special day.” The

have a singing Sunday, Oct.
11, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The singers will be Freedom
Ministries Gospel Singers. The
church is located three miles
south of Danielsville, just off
Hwy. 29 on Cleghorne Road.
•Community Baptist
Church will have a harvest
festival Saturday, Oct. 10,
from 4-9 p.m. There will be 30
booths with evangelistic bags,
candy, cakewalks, games,
clowns, hayrides, family pho
tos, give-a-ways, contests, five
inflatable bounces, slides and
interactive games, along with
free concessions including hot
dogs, boiled peanuts, popcorn,
cotton candy and sno-cones,
church leaders said. “It’s fun for
the entire family,” church lead

•GospelTabernaclewill have
a singing Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7
p.m. featuring Exception to the
Rule (formerly The Ray Family),
of Royston. Also featured will

•A new “Community Prayer
Requests” mailbox is now avail
able at Jones Chapel United
Methodist Church. Anyone in
the community with a prayer
concern may write a note and
place it in the box, which is
located adjacent to visitors’
parking in the lot nearest Hwy.
29. Requests may be made
anonymously or persons may
sign their names, but either
way, all requests will be kept
confidential. “All requests will
be honored, whether large or
small because God cares even
about the hairs on our heads,”
church leaders said. Persons
leaving prayer requests may
exit back onto Hwy 29 or onto
Jones Chapel Shiloh Road.
•Colbert First Baptist
Church is hosting a “grief
share” program, which began
Tuesday, Oct. 6. The program
will last for 13 weeks, according
to organizers, and will be held
in the church’s family life cen
ter, located behind the church.
These sessions, which include
a workbook and a DVD pre
sentation, are designed to help
individuals through the grief
process God’s way, organiz
ers said. “If this does not fit
your work schedule, please call
to see if another time can be
worked out,” organizers added.

Hall will present Kelly Maxey

•Liberty Church will have
its annual homecoming and
old-fashioned day beginning at
10:30 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 11.
The Gipsons will be the special
singers and the speaker will be
Pastor Richard Davis. A cov
ered dish lunch will be served
after the service. “Men, wear
overalls, and ladies, wear your
aprons and bonnets,” church
leaders said. Founded in 1830,
Liberty Church is located five
miles north of lla. “Everyone
is welcome,” church leaders
said.
•Colbert First Baptist
Church will host a Ladies Night
Out in the church’s family life
center Tuesday, Oct. 13, at6:30
p.m. The speaker will be best
selling southern author and syn
dicated columnist Ronda Rich.
“God, Grits and Grace...Ronda
Rich knows all three,” church
leaders said. Rich has been
featured in many newspapers
as well as dozens of television
shows as a master storyteller.
“Please come join Ronda at
Colbert First Baptist Church as
she tells you stories of happi
ness and heartaches, friends
and family, and a faith that’s
strong enough to handle any
thing that life throws your way,”
church leaders said. The cost
is $20, which includes food, fun
and fellowship, church leaders

•Colbert UMC will prepare
and serve a catfish filet tray or
plate Oct. 17 at the church’s
family life center. The menu
will be catfish filet, hush pup
pies, French fries and slaw.
For those who wish to dine in,
plates will be available, orga
nizers said. Iced tea or cokes
will be available as well. Adult
trays are $8; adult plates and
drink are $8.50 and children
under 12, $4 for tray or plate.
Meals will be available from
5-7 p.m. The following indi
viduals will have tickets: Melvin
