(19078) Annie Lou Serpa ATHENS - Annie Lou Serpa, 78, died Sunday, October 11, 2009. Born in Greene County, she was a Marine Corp vet eran of World War II, and owned and operated Aunt's Monogramming. Mrs. Serpa was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Serpa; a son, Robert R. Serpa Jr.; and sister, Catherine Dunn. Survivors include daughters, Crystal Chapin, Athens, and Lynne Griffith, Commerce; sons, John Serpa, Alto, ChristopherSerpa, Commerce; sisters, Margarette O'Neil, Union Point, Christine Harris, Arnoldsville, Shirley Harris, Florida; brothers, Lester Mize and Bill Mize, both of Woodville; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 17, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 17, from 9 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Born in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late Elijah S. and Bessie Smith Redmon. Mrs. Shubert was preceded in death by her hus band, William Otis Shubert. Survivors include a daugh ter, Judy Shubert, Maysville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Born in Jackson County on June 9,1927, he was the son of the late Alvin Lee Smallwood and Minnie Lee Smallwood Stockton. Mr. Smallwood was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Mary Edna Smith Smallwood; and nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include children, Robert Lee Smallwood and Mary Elaine Steadham, both of Jackson, and Melissa Hope Simmons, Locust Grove; 14 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; brothers, William (Bill) Stockton and Grady Stockton; and sisters, Helen Stockton and Mildred Brown. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 8, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Pastor David Graham officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery. Survivors include broth ers and sister-in-law, Danny and Jean Sturgeon and Stevie Sturgeon, all of Winder, Terry Sturgeon and Gary Sturgeon, both of Lawrenceville, Scott Sturgeon, Utah; and sisters, Shelia and David Wood, Winder, Sherry Harvey and Mike Johnson, Auburn, and JoAnn Murdock, Utah. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 16, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Little- Ward Funeral Home with the Revs. Henry Webb and James Lee officiating. Burial will be at Jackson Memorial Gardens.
