ROTARY CONSTRUCTS RAMP FOR JAWERS
The Rotary Club of Madison County recently constructed a ramp for Ruth Jawers, who has just
moved to Madison County and really needed a ramp to get in and out of her new home. Laquita
Bridges of Comer, contacted Rotary and requested the ramp. Jawers has had complications con
nected to a hip replacement that was severely crippling her. She had to use a wheelchair and
a walker to get around. The Rotary Club constructed a 5x5 foot platform and a 16-foot ramp in
short order. Workers included Alton Rowe, Roy Gandy, Bob Padilla, Ed Brown, Jerry Coutant,
Jerry Bond, Pat Quinn, Artry Bishop, James Adams, Bob Anderson, James Wofford and Paul
Tilton.

Vendors out in full force at CFM
By Leslie Chandler
Correspondent
We had a great showing from vendors at the
Comer Farmers’ Market this past Saturday.
New vendors Shelby Smith and Macayla West
brought fresh pecans, banana peppers, bell peppers,
and always popular Girl Scout Cookies. We always
welcome new vendors!
Miss Sara Blackmon showed up with her famous
cakes-red velvet, German chocolate, caramel, hum
mingbird and coconut. She also had pecan and
sweet potato pies. She was a welcome sight.
Happy 30 th anniversary to Jubilee Partners! They
brought a fantastic selection of produce and greens.
Turnips, daikon radishes, red and white sweet
potatoes, kale, cayenne and jalapeno peppers, mus
tard and collard greens, herbs, green onions and
Egyptian walking onions.
Dan Harris still has a quantity of honey, but it’s
going fast. Come and get some!
Kathryn Miller has darling beeswax candles in a
variety of shapes and sizes. Santas, Christmas trees,
bears, pumpkins and snowmen among many oth
ers. They make great gifts and bum evenly.
Please keep in mind your friends, neighbors and
others in the community who might need help with
food. We hold a weekly food drive for ACTION
of Madison County. Check your pantry for extras.
Every little bit helps.
The holidays are right around the comer and the
Comer Farmers’ Market is a great place to pick up
locally produced goods for gifts for friends and
family. We will be open Saturdays through Dec. 5

hours are 8 a.m. until noon and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
for the Christmas Parade.
