Born on January 21, 1936, in Auburn, N.Y., he was the son of Howard Henry and Joyce Voorhees Hudson of Elmira, N.Y. Survivors include his lov ing wife, Christie Youngman Hudson, Madison; sister, Gail Hudson McCarthy; stepson, Shaun Ferro; and his many friends of the art world. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 16, at the Galilee Christian Church, 2191 Galilee Church Rd., Jefferson, Ga. Mr. Lord was pre ceded in death by a brother, Mark Lord. She was born in Banks County on November 2, 1935, the daughter of the late Elmer and Bobbie Wood Davis. She was retired from Griffin Technical College and was a member of the Damascus Christian Church, Griffin. Survivors include her hus band, Walter Lee Mason; children and their spouses, Sandra and Buster Hicks, Ellen and James Crawford, Karen and Chris Rogers, all of Griffin, Gary and Monica Mason, Williamson; 11 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Patsy Davis, Homer; sister-in-law, Vickie Davis, Homer; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late Melvin and Gertrude Lord Mattox Stephenson. He was the last living member of Union Primitive Baptist Church. He was a retired deputy with Clarke County as well as Oglethorpe County and retired Sheriff of Madison County. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Mattox; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Dan Hinsley, Maysville, Teresa and Wes Dozier, Athens, Susan and Chris Robertson, Ila; and grandchildren, Brent Hinsley, Lee Hinsley, Neal Hinsley, Jill Boyd, Katie Shipley, Ali Robertson, Sarah Robertson; great-grand children, Christian Hinsley, AnnMarie Hinsley, Makalia Hinsley, Madalyn Hinsley, Mattox Hinsley, Isabelle Hinsley, Sawyer Boyd and Olivia Boyd. He was the son of the late Henry Gordon and Arnettie Melton. Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Merle Payne Melton; and a daughter, Cheryl Elaine Melton. He was a member of the Hull Baptist Church. Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Tommy Melton, Colbert, and Steve and Teresa Melton, Statham; brothers, Billy Melton, Hull, andRichardMelton, Elberton; sisters, Bonnie LaCount, Gastonia, N.C., Betty Huth and Joyce Bonner, both of Colbert, Daisy Bagwell, Athens; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchil dren. Mr. Minish was preceded in death by brothers- in-law, A.E. “Rusty” Faulkner and Jimmy Milford. Born on February 19, 1927, in Banks County, he was the son of the late Herschel and Elsie Lane Payne. He was a graduate of Baldwin High School and was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Line Baptist Church and was a retired poultry and cattle farmer. He was a former board mem ber of the B.J.C. Medical Center Board with 15 years of service and a former mem ber of the Banks County Cattlemen’s Association. Mr. Payne was preceded in death by a brother, Alec Payne. Survivors include his wife and dedicated companion of 61 years, Lurlene Ward Payne, Hollingsworth Community; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay House and the Rev. Tim House, Gillsville. Kim and Andy Harris, Baldwin; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Jane Payne, Clarkesville; sister and brother-in-law, Priscilla and Bob Mabrey, Baldwin; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchil dren. (081) ‘Ronnie’ Seabolt COMMERCE - Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Seabolt, 66, died Saturday, December 12, 2009. He was a mem ber of the Commerce Church of Christ. He had retired from Jackson County as a Correctional Officer, served for many years on the Commerce Planning Commission, and was a former member of the Commerce Board of Education. He received the Volunteer of the Year award from the Commerce City School System, where he had donated many hours of his time including driving school buses. Until declining health prevented him from working, he was a cherished member of the staff at Ivie Funeral Home. He was a loving hus band, father and grandfather, loved ones stated. Survivors include his wife, Mary Seabolt, Commerce; son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Kim Seabolt, Commerce; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Bobby Caudell, Commerce; broth ers, Jerry Seabolt, Commerce, Joe Seabolt, Mableton, and Ray Seabolt, Monroe; a sister, Ann Hatfield, Douglasville; grandchildren, Zeke, Madison, Alec, Sidnei and Kade-Andrew; and sev eral nieces and nephews. He was a mem ber of the Edwards Chapel Baptist Church in Athens and was in the last graduating class of the University High School in Athens. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by grand parents, George and Maly Shaw and Madge Spinks and brother, Gary Michael Shaw. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Minish, Commerce; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Roger Moore, Lula; stepdaughter, Lisa and Mike Ogletree, Homer; stepson, Scott Fincannon, Commerce; brothers, Newt Shaw, Fayetteville, Billy Shaw, Snellville, David Shaw, Athens; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Bud Bryant, Sandy Cross, Janice Williamson, Athens, Sandra and Chris Colquitt, Winterville, Melissa and Mike Carithers, Watkinsville; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A res ident of Winder for the past three years, she was a for mer Macon resident, where she attended The Church of The Wildwood and served as chairman of the board of deacons, and was the church office clerk for many years. She was active as an encourager at Cedar Creek Baptist Church where she was a member. Mrs. Upton was a retired Employment Interviewer with The Georgia Department of Labor. Survivors include children, Joseph Thomas “Tom” Upton, Sr., Stone Mountain, and Rebecca Branson, Dacula; grandchildren, Chris Eure, Leontine “Lynn” McGuigan, Diana Eure Houston and Joseph “Joey” Thomas Upton, Jr.; and seven great grandchildren.
