COLBERT ELEMENTARY HOLDS CHAMPS GRADUATION
CHAMPS which stands for “Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety”
is a fifth grade program sponsored by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department and is
the program that replaced DARE. “This is a Georgia created program that gives us the
flexibility to incorporate local issues into the curriculum,” explained Deputy Patton. The
program runs for 12 weeks and includes classroom lessons, a poster contest, and an essay
contest. “This is an excellent program and gives students a resource for making healthy
choices,” said Principal Billy Heaton. Pictured are Colbert fifth grade CHAMPS graduates

KEEP CHRIST IN CHRIST
MAS... Here are five suggest
ions for keeping Christ in
Christmas: (1) make Him
welcome in the inn of our
hearts, (2) like the shepherds,
spread the good news to others,
(3) say “Merry Christmas” to
others, not "Happy Holidays”,
(4) strive to keep the Christmas
emphasis on the spiritual rather
than the material, and (5) don’t
compromise your Christian
testimony in any way during
this festive season.
Truly, “Jesus is the reason for
the season.” With Him in first
place, other things fall into
their proper place.
