DECEMBER 24. 2009 On the Record Nicholson women charged with battery Two Nicholson women were arrested last week following a fight at a residence on Rocky Branch Hollow Road. Betty Jean Wagener, 48, 41 Rocky Branch Hollow Road, and Christy Michelle Webb, 31, 87 Rocky Branch Hollow Road, were charged with one count each of battery. According to the incident report, the fight was a culmi nation of ongoing problems between the women. Both women had injuries to their faces as a result of the fight. In a second arrest, two Colbert men were apprehended on outstanding felony warrants after a deputy spotted them walking along Hunt Road last week. Rocky Dean Strickland, 29, 174 8 th Avenue, was charged with theft by taking and bench warrant (original charge: deposit account fraud) and Roger Dale Strickland, Jr., 37, same address, was charged with theft by taking and obstruction of an officer. According to the incident report, Deputy Jeff Strickland turned around and followed the men into a driveway where he ordered them to stop. Rocky Strickland stopped, but Roger Strickland reportedly began running toward a wood line. K-9 Officer Josh Fowler and Ace tracked Strickland to some bushes beside Sexton- Jennings Road where he was apprehended. In another arrest, a Danielsville man was charged last week after he struck the porch of a residence on Hillwood Drive with his car and left the scene. Luis Contreras, 20, 80 Hillwood Circle, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance, duty upon striking fixture and expired registration revalida tion. According to the incident report, a witness to the acci dent saw what direction the vehicle, a silver Mazda, left in and officers found Contreras getting out of the car in his yard. Contreras reportedly told the officers he lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree, then hit the residence. The vehi cle had no insurance and an unregistered tag. Others arrested by the sher iffs office last week included: •Larry Henry Allred, 54,157 Femdale Court, Hull, proba tion violation (original charge: DUI). •Brian Donovan Cape, 38, 2819 Comer Road, Comer, failure to appear. (Comer PD) •Dustin Lewis Casper, 17,95 Piedmont Park, Hull, disorder ly conduct and two bondsman off bond charges (carrying a concealed weapon and carry ing weapons within a school safe zone or on school prop erty). •Andrew Clayton Entrekin, 24, 183 Hogan Street, Maysville, probation violation (original charge: theft by tak ing). •Michael Vincent Gresham, 32, 1155 Kathwood Drive, Elberton, two counts of proba tion violation. •Casey Jason Maney, 29, 2475 Blacks Creek Church Road, Danielsville, probation violation (original charge: bur glary). •Plarido Salines Perez, 32, Danielsville Road, Danielsville, DUI and driving without a license (unlicensed/ wrong class). (Comer PD) Man sentenced to three years for criminal damage Three arrested after riding on horses while drinking Three people were arrested last weekend in an unusual case of DUI, after a deputy reportedly found them riding horses on the road at night while drinking. Arrested were: Jackie Lynn Taylor, Jr„ 47, 50 Davenport Mountain Road, Blue Ridge; Laura Linda Bullock, 36, 5265 Hwy. 174, Danielsville and Romona Ann Sisson, 47, 257 Creighton Road, Ball Ground. According to the sheriff’s office and the incident report, Deputy Dennis Harbison found the trio riding their horses on James Adams Road after dark Saturday night with no reflective gear on. Harbison asked them to get off their horses and noticed the smell of alcohol and that they were unstable on their feet. He also found several cans of Bud Light both open and unopened in their saddle bags. They were arrested and taken to the Madison County Jail. Taylor faxed a copy of his citation to The Journal Tuesday. The citation showed Taylor’s blood/alcohol level at .065, which is below the legal limit. Taylor said he had more to drink than the other two riders. Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office included: •More than $3,000 worth of items were reportedly stolen from a home on Glenn Carrie Road. Items taken included tools, a digital camera and laptop. •A woman was allegedly bitten severely on the lower lip by a dog on Della Slaton Road last week. Deputies called to Athens Regional were unable to speak with her about the incident, as she was already in surgery. Animal control was notified to follow up and identify the dog. •Obstruction of officers was reported on Albany Avenue in Danielsville. •Theft by taking was reported on South Fifth Street in Colbert. •A burglary was reported on Alberta Drive in Colbert. •Duty to stop at the scene of an accident (hit and mn) was reported on Garnett Ward Road. •Theft by taking was reported on Sanford Road. •Disorderly conduct was reported on Racetrack Road. •Burglary was reported on Spratlin Mill Drive in Hull. •Forgery in the first degree was reported on South Main Street in Ila. •DUl/alcohol was reported on Hwy. 29 South in Hull. •Speeding was reported on Hwy. 72 at Morris Lane. •Battery was reported on Alberta Drive. •Forgery in the second degree was reported on Hwy. 106 at the Franklin County line. •Criminal trespass was reported on Nowhere Road. •Theft by taking was reported on Musket Ridge Road. •Disorderly conduct was reported in Piedmont Park. •Obstruction of officers and burglary were reported at two sepa rate locations on Hunt Road. •Battery was reported on Rocky Branch Hollow Road. •VGCSA was reported on Hwy. 29 South. •Criminal damage to property in the second degree was reported on South Main Street in Ila. •Theft by taking was reported on Hwy. 106 South. •A domestic dispute was reported on Glenn Carrie Road. •DUl/alcohol was reported on Hwy. 72 at North 5 th Street in Colbert. •Burglary was reported on Hwy. 106 South. •Driving without a license was reported on Hardman Morris Road at Madison Avenue in Colbert. A man was recently sen tenced in Madison County Superior Court to three years confinement for criminal damage to property in the second degree. Justin Culver, no age or address available, was also sentenced to two years pro bation on 13 counts of crimi nal damage to property in the second degree. He was also fined $2,475. A charge of theft by taking was dis missed. In a separate case, a Comer man was recently sentenced in Madison County Superior Court to four months in jail for theft by taking. Other actions filed recently in the office of the Clerk of Superior Court of Madison County include: •Shantez Monique Booker, 30, Athens, was sentenced to seven years probation for possession of cocaine and five years probation for pos session of tools for the com mission of a crime. She was also fined $1,825. A charge of failure to appear was dis missed. •Lisa Thompson, 35, Lavonia, was sentenced to 10 years probation and fined $850 for theft by taking.
