What’s happening?
Madison Countians
can help purchase
Haiti relief
supplies
Madison County citizens
wanting to help earthquake-
devastated Haiti can do so by
donating money at any First
Citizens branch.
Contributions made to the
“Georgia for Haiti" fund, which
has been set up locally, will help
purchase supplies for doctors
working in Haiti.
These doctors are part of a
church group based out of Atlanta
that already has a clinic set up on
the Dominican Republic side of
Haiti.
A local pharmacist, Alan White
from Colbert Pharmacy, will take
the money raised from “Georgia
for Haiti" and purchase supplies to
be sent directly to these doctors.
Those wanting to donate can ask
their teller at First Citizens to look
up the account so they can make
a deposit.
There are five First Citizens
branches in Madison County —
Colbert, Comer, Ila, Danielsville
and Hull.

News from the Over 50 Club
By Cheryl Leuthner
Correspondent
When Betty Westbrook
called the Feb. 10 meeting of
the Over Fifty Club to order,
there were 14 people present.
Her devotion for the day was
titled, “The Sea.” A trip to the
beach is something to look for
ward to, with the sound of the
surf, a cooling breeze and the
best seafood. We are reminded
of God’s power when we stare
out to sea and see the endless
expanse of his creation.
The club theme song was
led by Charles Jay. The club
sang Happy Birthday to
Cheryl Leuthner and Happy
Anniversary to Faye and
Charles Jay (63rd).
Bill Coady offered the heal
ing prayers for Elena Edgmon,
Sarah Turner, and Betty and
Horis Smith.
The secretary/treasurer report
was read by Cheryl Leuthner.
New business included giving
a gift of Gideon Bibles in mem
ory of Tom Lackey. Bill Coady
suggested that the club take a
trip to Bethlehem Thursday,
May 20, for an “Older Adult
Day.” The trip will be discussed
at a later meeting.
Charles Jay presented a pro
gram of "church funnies.” He
read several humorous articles
that people have said or written
about church.
The meal prayer was said by
Gene Lackey. Hostesses were
Mary Ann Seagraves, Ann
Seagraves and Will Mauldin.
They had decorated with a
Valentine theme and gave out
several door prizes.
The hostess for March is
Debbie Coady. That meeting
will be March 10, beginning
at 11:30 in the fellowship hall
at Gordon’s Chapel United
Methodist Church, Hull. We
welcome new members and
invite all over 50 seniors to
join us.
