Robin Taylor have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition
of their exceptional achievement on AP exams.
Barnes and Taylor qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor
Award by earning an average score of at least 3.23 on all AP
exams taken, and scores of three or higher on four or more of
these exams.
The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program ®
(AP®) provides willing and academically prepared students
with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses
while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced
placement, or both for successful performances on the AP
Exams.

worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently
high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.
Madison Co. celebrates National 4-H Week
By Susan Goldman
It’s that time of year again:
National 4-H Week.
We’re kicking off the celebra
tions in a big way this year in
Madison County as part of the
“I Am Georgia 4-H” campaign.
Wear green to show your sup
port of 4-H this week. Pick up
your free “I Am Georgia 4-H”
car sticker at our local 4-H office
while supplies last.
There are lots of ways 4-H’ers
have already joined the celebra
tion.
We got an early start on 4-H
week Saturday, Oct. 2, with the
4-H Rabies Clinic at Midway
Grocery and Farm Supply. Pets
were vaccinated by Dr. Allene
Phillips at a reduced price to help
decrease the spread of Rabies in
our county. On Wednesday, Oct.
6,4-H’ers also participated in our
National 4-H Youth Science Day
where 4-H’ers took part in 4H20
experiments and Health Rocks
classes led by local 4-H'ers.
Finally, several contests are
planned for Junior (seventh-
eighth grade) and Senior (ninth-
12th grade) 4-H’ers during the
week.
All seventh through twelfth
graders can create a 30-second
to one-minute video telling what
4-H means to them and ending
with “I am (name), a Madison
County 4-H’er, and I am Georgia
4-H!”
Upload the video to YouTube
and post it to the “I am Georgia
4-H" Facebook page discus
sion tab by 11:59 p.m. Oct. 9
to enter.
Seventh and eighth grade
4-H’ers can enter the essay con
test with a narrative of 500 to
1,000 words explaining what ‘‘I
am Georgia 4-H” means to you.
Essays should be submitted to
iamga4h@gmail.com by 11:59
p.m. on Oct. 9 in plain text or a
Word document.
Freshmen through seniors can
take creative photos of them
selves wearing their ‘‘I am
4-H’ers” and supporters should
wear green at least once this
week and tell others your 4-H
story Georgia 4-H shirts to enter
the photo contest.
Entries should be submitted by
e-mail to iamga4h@gmail.com
by 11:59 p.m. Oct. 9.
And of course, check out
each newspaper edition for arti
cles featuring Madison County
4-H’ers and alumni as they help
us declare, “We are Georgia
4-H!"
