Back-to-School Supply Drive
collecting donations through July 18
The Madison Area
Resource Team (MART)
Family Connection
collaborative is sponsoring
the 12 th -annual Back-to-
School Supply Drive now
through July 18.
This year's rally for low-
income families will be
held Thursday, July 28,
with registration beginning
at 6 p.m. at the Madison
County Middle School
cafeteria located off Hwy.
172. There will be a hot
dog supper and family
enrichment information
booths available during the
rally. Basic school supplies
collected during the drive
will be handed out to
Madison County school age
children during the rally, as
long as supplies last.
Any remaining supplies
will be available at the
M.A.R.T. office on an
as-needed basis or by
referrals/request made by
any Madison County school
official.
“As in the past, we would
like to encourage parental
involvement by requiring
at least one parent or
guardian to be present with
the students receiving the
supplies,” organizers said.
“If a student has a pre
scheduled sporting event
or a curricular activity that
coincides with the time of
the rally, the parent may
choose to pick up supplies
once all students present
at the rally are served, or
the parent may attend and
fill out a student absentee
request form and then
follow up with a call to the
office the following week
for availability of supplies.”
Those interested in giving
a donation of supplies or
making a monetary donation
can send a check, made
payable to M.A.R.T. - Back
to School Supply Drive, to
the Madison County Family
Connection Office. RO.
Box 1034. Danielsville. GA
30633.
Donated supplies may
be dropped off at the
Family Connection office
or the county extension
office at 103 Sunset Drive
in Danielsville by noon
on Monday, July 18. For

coordinator Ryan Melton at

Animal shelter hosts ‘Beat the 2 nd Heat’
spay special for female cats July 31
The Madison Oglethorpe
Animal Shelter will host
a “Beat The 2nd Heat”
Sunday, July 31 in its low
cost spay/neuter clinic.
Spay surgery for female
cats will be just $35 that
day.
“Unlike dogs, female cats
do not cycle at regular inter
vals throughout the year,”
shelter officials said. “Cats
tend to come into heat in
relation to the season. The
mating season in cats is
determined by a number of
factors, including the length
of daylight and the pres
ence of other cats. When
there are ten hours of day
light and other conditions
are optimal, the hormonal
system is activated, and the
queen (female cat) begins
the reproductive cycle, ulti
mately having three to four
litters per year.”
Shelter officials say
“don't let your precious
feline get caught in another
litter cycle.”
“Prevent that unwanted
litter by joining MOAS on
Sunday, July 31, for this
great promotion,” shelter
officials said. Space is lim
ited so don’t wait, schedule
your appointment today to
take advantage of the spe
cial. Call 706-795-2868 for
an appointment.
In heat or pregnant addi
tional fees will apply. Proof
of a current rabies vaccine
is required or a vaccine will
be given (at a cost of $10)
at time of surgery, officials
stated.

With my certification as a
level 1 arson investigator,
I will be an asset to our
local Fire services. I also
have a certified Homicide

be a cost savings to our

will work even harder as
your Sheriff.

by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and
seek my face, then I will heard from Heaven, will
forgive their sin, and heal their land.
Building a
Great Team!
I will be excited to work
with the current staff and
bring in a new adminis

No one individual can
manage this office alone.
It takes team work. I feel
like these individuals
have been put in place
by God’s plan and he has
