Woman faces drug charges after traffic stop
A Danielsville woman was
arrested on multiple charges last
week after deputy Brian Cowart
spotted her speeding on Hwy.
106 South during routine patrol.
Majella Mae Lord, 36, was
charged with speeding, reckless
driving, no tag, improper lane
change, DUI/drugs, possession
of a Schedule I or II controlled
substance with intent to distrib
ute, possession of methamphet-
amine, possession and use of
drug-related objects, possession
of a Schedule IV controlled sub
stance and four counts of posses
sion of a Schedule II controlled
substance.
Cowart was traveling north
when he met Lord’s Nissan
Altima headed south at a high
rate of speed. He clocked her
with his radar at 95 mph.
He made a U turn and fol
lowed the car, noting that she
weaved in and out of traffic reck
lessly.
She finally got in between two
larger vehicles in an attempt to
blend in, but Cowart eventually
caught up with her and initiated
a traffic stop just north of Neese-
Commerce Road.
Lord was very agitated and
crying when Cowart approached
her car and was having difficulty
locating her license.
She said she was headed to
work and knew her tag was
expired, but Cowart noted she
was perspiring profusely.
Cowart ran her information
through dispatch and asked if
she had any medical problems
and she said she was currently
sick. He allowed her to call her
work and tell them she would
be late.
After Lord finished her con
versation with her employer,
Cowart asked her to step from
the vehicle. She was initially
uncooperative with his orders
to step from tire vehicle and
continued to be “up and down”
and agitated at times as he spoke
with her. She stated that she
needed to tell the deputy some
thing.
Lord said her boyfriend had
left his weed inside her car yes
terday. She then handed Deputy
Adam Arnold, who had arrived
to assist, a medium sized bag of
a green leafy substance consis
tent with marijuana.
Lord also said she was a nurse
and had a “history of doing stu
pid @#$% and said that she saw
the rest of the encounter "going
badly" because she had no idea
what else her boyfriend might
have left inside her vehicle.
Lord then stated that her boy
friend had just been in her car,
which Cowart noted contradict
ed her previous statement of her
boyfriend leaving the marijuana
in the car yesterday.
Cowart observed multiple
sores on her arms that appeared
consistent with intravenous drug
usage.
Lord was asked if there any
thing else illegal inside the vehi
cle and she stated that she did not
know. She said the last time she
used illegal drugs was the previ
ous Thursday, when she smoked
marijuana.
Lord asked what would hap
pen to her if she told Cowart
everything that could possibly be
inside her vehicle. She then stat
ed that there might be crushed
Percocet and other “stuff" that
she took from her son inside the
vehicle.
Multiple different drugs were
found inside tire vehicle, includ
ing multiple bags of marijuana,
digital scales, a smoking device,
pipes with suspected traces of
methamphetamine and various
pills.
She was arrested at the scene
and her car was towed.
In another arrest, a Comer
man was arrested last week on
first degree burglary charges
after he allegedly took tools and
a lawnmower from from a rel
ative’s home on Della Slaton
Road.
Jamie Brandon White, 28,
Comer, was taken into custody
by deputy Shawn Rhoades.
On July 19, Rhoades was dis
patched to the home where he
spoke with the owner, who said
he was at his home tire day
before working and when he left
around 4 p.m. he put his tools up
and locked the door.
When he returned that morn
ing around 10 a.m. he discov
ered that Iris front door had
been forced open and his tools
stolen. While walking around
tire house, he also found that
his lawnnrower had been taken
from a shelter behind the house.
He named White as a suspect
and said White had been at Iris
home earlier and is a relative
of Iris.
Rhoades and another officer
went to the suspect’s home on
Della Slaton Road and spoke
to White.
He said that he did know
about tire missing items and
had the lawnnrower behind the
house and tire tools were inside
tire residence. He said he had
borrowed tire lawnmower and
tools and was planning to return
them. White and officers then
retrieved the lawnmower from
behind a shed. The tools were
found under his bed.
Other arrests on file at the
sheriff's office this week includ
ed:
•George Brandon West, 25, of
Colbert, was charged with dis
orderly conduct following a call
about a domestic dispute.
Deputy Shawn Norris and
another officer went to the home
on Duffell Martin Road where
dispatch said a man had been
possibly been mn over by a
Dodge Durango. While en route,
they passed an SUV matching
that description and conducted
a traffic stop. The female driver
told Norris her passenger (West)
could explain what happened.
West said he and the woman
had been arguing and his brother
"blew it out of proportion.”
He said his companion did not
mn him (West) over, as reported,
and that nothing physical had
taken place.
He said they were on their
way to the woman's aunt’s
house to “talk tilings out.”
After several minutes of get
ting Mr. West's side of what
happened, he finally stated that
his right foot was ran over and
that he was knocking on the
window with his phone trying to
get her to stay.

Hull woman charged with selling marijuana to teenager
A 58-year-old Hull woman
was arrested last week after
she allegedly sold marijuana
to a teenager.
Trina Efird Lowery, of
Grady Drive, was charged
with possession of a Schedule
I or n controlled substance
with intent to distribute.
On July 23, deputy Chad
Parr met with a man on
Femwood Drive about his
two sons walking away from
home without his permission.
Parr then spoke with the
two teens about obeying what
their parents said. The older
teen told him he went across
the street to play basketball
with another boy and his little
brother went with him.
While they were there, the
younger brother told Parr that
the boy they were playing
basketball with said he had
some “weed” he was going to
smoke the next day. He told
him he got it from his brother.
Parr then went across the
street to speak with the parents
of the boy who was talking
about the weed.
Both parents said they
didn’t know anything about
their son smoking marijuana
or having any.
The younger son went
inside and got the bag of mar
ijuana and said he got it from
his older brother, who was at
the Lowery’s house.
Parr and two other officers
then went to the Lowery
home and spoke with several
people there.
A woman who answered
the door said said she didn’t
know anything about anyone
selling marijuana and that it
was her mother’s house.
Ms. Lowery then came into
the living room and she said
she had not sold anything to
anyone.
Another deputy came into
the residence and discovered
a small plastic bag on a bed
in the living room containing
suspected marijuana. Beside
that bag, officers found anoth
er bag with a green leafy sub
stance inside of it. Lowery
was asked several times if
there was any more marijua
na and she stated “no, she
guessed it was all sold.”
Several stacks of cash were
confiscated and counted, the
16-year old boy was retrieved
and returned to his home and
Lowery was taken to jail.
Other incidents on file at
the sheriff's office last week
included:
•There were four attempted/
threats of suicide around the
county.
•A woman went to the sher
iff's office last week to report
that someone stole two dogs
from her garage. The woman
told deputy Josh Fowler that
she left her two small Shih-
Tzus in the garage with food
and water and went to North
Carolina for three days. When
she returned, she noticed she
did not hear the dogs bark
ing, her motion fights did not
come on and the garage was
not locked.
She said she had her grand
son check the motion fights
and he discovered that they
had been screwed out enough
to keep them from coming on.
There was not forced entry
and the only thing missing
was her two dogs.
•Financial transaction card
fraud was reported on Hwy.
98 West. A man reported that
someone made unauthorized
charges on his credit card,
though the card was still in
his possession. Three charges
were made on the same day
in Covington and the offender
was captured on video at a
Pubfix. He had already called
his bank to deactivate the card.
•A man on Diamond Hill
Colbert Road told deputy Pat
Holl that he contracted with
a company on July 10 to fix
his computer online. He said
he paid $300. On July 17,
he said his computer crashed
again and he discovered the
payment had cleared the bank
immediately afterwards. The
man could no longer get in
touch with the company.
•A juvenile was found liv
ing in deplorable conditions
at a county home last week.
Deputy Adam Arnold was
first dispatched to the home
regarding a suicide attempt
involving a knife.
Dispatch told Arnold that
the suspect had not used the
DRAKE
GAS CO.
Service
You Can Depend On!
knife but was threatening to
harm himself or someone
else.
The deputy found the juve
nile on the front porch, crying
and upset. The child told him
that her mother was the one
making the threats.
Arnold could hear the
woman beating on things
inside her home and he asked
her to come outside. She did
not answer so Arnold opened
the door with his Taser and
gun drawn until he saw the
woman come out of her bed
room with her hands up.
The woman said she was
upset because she could not
find a fighter to fight her cig
arette and had not threatened
the child or herself with a
knife. She smelled of alcohol,
the deputy noted.
She said she didn’t want to
harm herself at that time but
was “only on earth for her
(child) and her two dogs.”
Arnold then spoke with the
child about their living condi
tions and the mother’s mental
state. The child said due to
stress, they only ate one meal
a day.
Arnold went inside to
observe the living condi
tions and found the home
“unhealthy and unsanitary,”
with very little food inside
the home. DFACS was sum
moned and the child was
allowed to go stay with a
friend’s parents.
•A man came home to his
Paradise Valley Road home to
find it had been burglarized.
He told deputy Brian Drake
on July 20 that he had left
town on July 3 when returned
that day he noticed his gate
was open and the lock cut off.
He found his shop fights on
and the side door of the shop
open with the lock cut.
He said he had backed an
SUV up to the double doors in
back of the shop and someone
apparently made entry into the
shop through the rear doors of
the vehicle. He did not find
anything missing from the
SUV, but saw where someone
had tried to alter the ignition.
A backpack blower, a shot
gun and a drill were missing.
•Warrants for robbery, bat
tery against a person 65 or
older and criminal trespass
have been issued for a 35-year
old man after he allegedly
attacked his elderly father at
his home on Hwy. 98 East.
The father told depu
ty Brandon Hanley that his
son attacked him sometime
between 3 and 4:30 that morn
ing. The father said his son
was angry with him because
he owed him some money
for a TV he had bought from
him, but wanted to make sure
the TV worked properly first.
He stated that the attack
started inside the house when
his son busted his bedroom
door in. He said the fight con
tinued outside the residence
inside of a vehicle. He said his
son punched and kicked him
and placed him in a headlock
and then took his wallet and
removed $300 from it. He left
and has not been back.
There was bruising on the
older man’s right arm and a
small laceration on his left
arm. Hanley also noted there
was a large hole in the bed
room door. The father was
evaluated by EMS by refused
transport to the hospital.
