Copeland GRIFFIN — Jean R Copeland, 88, Griffin, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. She was bom in Winder to John T. and Julia Perry. Jean attended LaGrange College and graduated from the Uni versity of Georgia. She was a lifelong educator and lover of Georgia history. She will forever be known to her stu dents for her perfect cursive penmanship and ability to fill an entire chalkboard with detailed notes. Jean retired from Flint River Academy, in Woodbury, after over three decades of teaching. Jean and her late husband, Ronald, were longtime resi dents of Pike County before re-locating to her hometown of Winder in the mid-1990’s. After Ronald’s passing she moved to Griffin to be closer to family. A voracious reader, she enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles and matching wits nightly with the Jeopardy contestants. Jean was a member of the Griffin First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her four children, Suzie McQuilken (Mike), Braselton, Raymond Copeland, Chuck (Teresa) Co peland and Phil ( Angie) Copeland, all of Griffin; grandchil dren, Stephen Rios (Jessica), Lindsay Rios Corbin (Thad), Julia M. Elliott (Sean), Anna Copeland, Margaret C. Kloser (Stephen), John Copeland, Taylor Copeland and Spencer Copeland; four great-grandchildren, Emerson, Harper, Sul livan,and Elliot; along with several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Frizzell was bom in Atlanta, a daughter to the late Paul and Kathlee Gant Brewer. Mrs. Frizzell was a mem ber of the Center Grove Baptist Church and was a home maker. Mrs. Frizzell was a loving mother and wife who let nothing come before her family and was well known in the community for being an outstanding country cook. Mrs. Griffin was bom in Jefferson, the daughter of the late Clarence Hobby Holmes and the late Mary Lou Murray Holmes, was a member of the Hoschton Church of God of Prophecy and was the retired owner of Toddlers Inn Childcare after 20 years of operation. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Griffin is preceded by her husband, Coleman Fred “Bud” Griffin; daughter, Janet Elaine Shoemaker; and brother, Arthur Holmes. Bom on July 29, 1959, she was the daughter of the late William Leon Lance and Edna Lucy Wynn Lance. Jeanne was a dedicated wife, mother and Nana. She treasured time with her family and friends, and she made new friends every where she went. After work and on the weekends she could be found in the kitch en where she loved to cook meals and bake cakes or out in the pasture checking on the cows she loved. She retired from Madison County Farm Bureau where she loved to talk to the members and help them with their insurance needs. Jeanne is survived by her husband, Bobby J. Hardy Jr; daughters, Stephanie Ring (Matt), Tara Drinkard (Casey) and Tori Howard (Blake); grandchildren, Azalee and Ar abella Ring and Ridley Howard; brother Malcolm Lance (Rebecca); sister Connie Arnold (Jimbo); and numerous nephews and nieces. Mr. Hattaway was bom in Athens on January 29, 1965, son of Billy and Jerusha Pullian Hattaway of Danielsville. He was a food service technician having worked at the Uni versity of Georgia and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his par ents, he is survived by his wife, Lisa Hart Hattaway; daughters, Nicole Hattaway, Danielsville, and Nicole Bobo, Danielsville; sister and brother-in-law, Vic ki and Bobby Hart, Dan ielsville; nieces and their spouses, Brittney and An thony Mathis, Hartwell, and Ashley and Chris Rucker, Commerce; great-nieces and nephews, Kaydence Mathis, Hudson Mathis, Harper Rucker and Korie Rucker; and great aunt-in-law, Shirley Ann Purcell, Royston. Week of September 19-25 Gloria Ann Hayes BRASELTON — Gloria Ann Hayes, 90, Braselton, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center - Braselton, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Hayes was bom November 14, 1930 to the late James Wesley Ellis Sr. and Martha Elizabeth Freeman El lis in Atlanta and was a member of Hoschton Seventh Day Adventist Church. Also, a past member of Georgia-Florida Charolais Association, she and her late husband were the owners of Double A Ranch. Mrs. Hayes worked with Hayes Chrysler as the secretary and treasurer for 40 years, from the beginning of Hayes Automotive Service in 1953 until her retirement in 1993. After retiring, she began the hobby of painting and pottery, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Albert David “A.D.” Hayes in 2009; parents; and sister, Bet ty Turner. Mrs. Hayes is survived by her children, Michael Da vid and Sherry Hayes, Hoschton, Albert Terry and Sandra Hayes, Baldwin, and Tim Ellis and Carolyn Hayes, Gaines ville; grandchildren, Chad, Jeremy, Tracey, Matt and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Molly, Elbe, Adam, Cooper, Trevor Lauren, Bryan, AJ, Cassidy and Brooke; brother and sister- in-law, James Wesley and Billie Ellis Jr., Suwanee; and sev eral nieces and nephews.
