She was bom in Balti more, Maryland on Janu ary 20, 1947. She lived in Florida, before moving to Georgia where she has re sided for the past 35 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harold Mosley; and her five sisters, Judy, Edie, Frannie and Mary. She was known as Mom, Granny and NeNe. She is a member of Sword of the Spirit Baptist Church. Mrs. Mosley leaves behind a tremendous legacy of life’s magical miraculous moments to be carried in memory with gratitude and heavy hearts. She will be missed by those who love her. She is survived by her brother, Frank William Shifflett, Florida;her five children, Donna, Deana, David, Frank and Terry; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Published by MainStreet Newspapers, Inc. Week of September 19-25 Mary Ella Mize Nunn MARIETTA — Mary Ella Mize Nunn, 87, Marietta, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021. She was bom on Sep tember 4, 1934 in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland where her mother and generations before her were raised. As a child, her family moved to Commerce to the home her father grew up in. She attended Flora MacDonald College in Red Springs, N.C., then came to Atlan ta to work at North Ave nue Presbyterian Church. She was secretary to Se nior Minister Dr. Vernon Broyles, then the Director of Christian Education. She was a founding member of the Zeta Tau Alpha soror ity chapter at Georgia State and continued to be an active member of the alumnae chapter the rest of her life. After meeting at a Georgia Tech basketball game, Mary Ella mar ried Jack Nunn and settled in Marietta. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Marietta where she also served as the Director of Christian Education for many years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Dennis Eidson, Roswell; grandchildren, Emily Eidson, Franklin, Tenn., Riley Eidson, Atlanta, and Will Eidson, Roswell; and neighbors and friends who were like family. A family graveside service will take place in Commerce with a celebration of life service planned for a later date. Week of September 19-25 Sara Elder Patrick WINDER — Sara Elder Patrick, 90, Winder, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021. Sara was bom August 19, 1931 to the late Ira Lewis and Fannie Lee Delay Elder. Sara was a Registered Nurse with the Barrow County Health Department. She was married to the late Bennie Joe Patrick. Ms. Pratt was bom in Union, South Carolina, a daughter to the late Syb il Hicks Pratt and the late Horace Lamar Pratt Jr. Survivors include her hus band, Glenn Moore Jr. of Hoschton; children, James Walter Cool and his wife Christi, Hoschton, and Al lison Cool Coulter and her husband G. Week of September 19-25 Carlene Saville MAYSVILLE — Carlene Saville, 65, Maysville, passed unexpectedly on Sunday, September 5, 2021 while vaca tioning with her daughter’s family in Oceanside, California. Carlene was bom October 11, 1955, was a native of Jackson County and grad uate of both the Commerce High School Tigers, class of 1973 and cosmetology school. She obtained her master’s in cosmetology starting from the young age of 21. Throughout the span of her 44-year career she owned and operated sev eral local salons. She was known and loved by many for her skills with her sheers, both cutting and styling hair. She retired from Smart Style at Banks Crossing, after a decade serving the community there, in the spring of 2020. She was a great friend to all who knew her. She was an admirer of antiques and enjoyed refurbishing and repurposing treasures she would often find for herself and her loved one’s homes. She could often be found at the local thrift shop scouting for newfound treasures. She was a wonderful Southern cook and was happiest sharing a home- cooked meal with her close family and friends. Her last ex periences were shared with her daughter’s family seeing the sights and enjoying the unique foods of Southern California. A loving daughter, sister, partner, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; the daughter of the late Call and Ella Mae Saville of Maysville; sibling of Jimmy Saville, Maysville, and Joanne Hughes, Florida. She is survived by her eldest daughter, Shannon Sutter and partner, Trent Altman, Oceanside, California; her grand daughter, Shayna Jones, Athens; and great-grandchildren, Made Jones, and Kyla and the late Kash Espino, Nicholson. Her lifelong companion, Wayne Cofield, Pendergrass, preceded her in death in the fall of 2017. They leave behind a son. Pastor Will Cofield, his wife, Erin and grandchildren. Alex Cofield, Aiden Cofield and Catie Cofield, Rock Hill, South Carolina. She is also survived by her youngest son, Cole Parks, Pendergrass. Carlene shared a home with her partner, Richard Lyle, Maysville, whom she loved dearly. She loved restoring their house with him and spending time with their two beloved cats, Finn-0 and Pippers. Carlene had a great love of ani mals which included her grand-cats, Sasha and Neo. Funeral service: Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 4 p.m. at Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce. Published by MainStreet Newspapers, Inc. Week of September 19-25 Charles Elbert Sims JEFFERSON — Charles Elbert Sims, 92, Jefferson, entered into rest Saturday, September 18, 2021. Mr. Sims was born in Car- tersville, a son of the late Virgil and Emma Broom Sims, was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the First Baptist Church of Jeffer son and the Baracas Sunday School Class and a member of the Jefferson Rotary Club. Mr. Sims enjoyed a successful 25- year career with Jackson Elec tric Membership Cooperation where he was the manager of member services and served as interim CEO for a time. Mr. Charles Sims was a beloved member of the Jefferson community. He served as treasurer of Jefferson First Baptist Church for many years and enjoyed singing hymns with his Baracas Sunday school class on Sunday mornings. He also en joyed leading the choir at local revivals. Charles always supported his grandchildren in their many endeavors, especially tennis. He would come to eveiy match and watch them play. He always reminded them to “move their feet” and play their best. He was known for riding around town in his little red Toyota truck and waving as he passed. If you ever played cards with Mr. Sims, you knew you were in for a game. He didn’t like to lose and expected his partner to understand that and play accordingly. Mr. Sims was a man that always stayed true to himself and put others first. He never had an unkind word to say about any one, He took the time to invest in all of his relationships, both family and friends. Mr. Sims was a man who led by example by always showing respect to everyone and was a fair man to all who encountered him. Charles Sims was a class act who never wanted anyone to give up on their dreams. He will be missed dearly, but his mem ory and legacy will live on in his family and all that knew him. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sims is preceded by two sis ters, Ruth Hairston and Alice Burrell; and a brother, Amos Sims. Survivors include his wife Raynelle White Sims, Jefferson; daughter Kay Sims Thomas (Marty), Gainesville: son, Phil Sims (June), Commerce; grandchildren, Hannah Sims Goolsby (Clifton), Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Parker Sims (Mea- gan), Jefferson; and great-grandchildren, Hadley Goolsby, Har rison and Andie Sims. Funeral service will be held privately due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Burial will take place in the Airline Baptist Church Cemetery, Gainesville.
