Charlotte Dean Allen
COMMERCE — Charlotte Dean Allen, 84, Com
merce, passed away on Monday, October 4,2021.
Born on March 2, 1937
in Commerce, Ms. Allen
was the daughter of the late
Bob and Geraldine Griffin
Allen. She was preceded
in death by a daughter,
Bobbette Hoover; brother,
William Allen; and a sis
ter, Sherbie Harris.
Survivors include a son,
Tim (Angie) Pritchett,
Commerce; son-in-law,
Jim Hoover; brothers,
Doug Allen and Truman
Allen; sister, Diane Matthews; grandchildren, Brian
Hoover, Clay (Lindsey) Pritchett and Jessie Pritchett;
and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside service: Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at
12 p.m. at Grey Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Douglas
Duncan officiating.
Family to receive friends: Wednesday, October 6,
2021 from 10-11:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy Mae Elgin Bales
Dorothy Mae Elgin Bales, passed away peacefully
with her family by her side on Friday, October 8,2021.
Ms. Bales was a loving
mother and grandmother
who loved spending time
with her family. She was
also a member of Vine
yard Creek Baptist Church
in Comer.
Born in Abbeville,
South Carolina, Ms. Bales
was the daughter of the
late Thomas Benjamin
Franklin Elgin and Ina
Mae Elgin.
Survivors include her
sister, Sarah Chandler; children, Cindy (Tony) Elder,
Bobby (Renee) Bales, Rodney Bales and Angie Bales;
grandchildren, Jessica Cress, Amber Cress, Chelsea
Sanders and Gage Bales; nephew and niece, Kenneth
Chandler and Susan Fowler.

Terry Otis Dailey
COMMERCE — Terry Otis Dailey, 74, Commerce,
passed away on Monday, October 4,2021.
Born on January 18,
1947 in Commerce, Mr.
Dailey was the son of the
late O.L. and Ruby An
thony Dailey. He was the
widower of Mary Leach-
man Dailey, a member of
Canaan Baptist Church,
and retired from Banks
County EMS, he also en
joyed a life long hobby of
restoring old cars.
He was preceded in
death by brothers, Benny
Dailey and L.C. Dailey; sisters, Linda Baxter, Betty Jo
Stephenson and Helen Akery.
Survivors include a son, Scott Dailey, Commerce;
daughter, Kellie (Mike) Ross, Commerce; two grand
sons, Landon and Logan.
Funeral service: Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at
2 p.m. at the Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
David Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Grey
Hill Cemetery.

Maurita Mae Myers Fogle
JEFFERSON — Maurita Mae Myers Fogle, 96,
Jefferson, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at
Brighter Mornings.
Ms. Fogle was born in Carlisle. Penn, to the late Roy
and Bertha Hurley Myers. Ms. Fogle was a missionary
wife to France, nurse’s aide, member of Maysville Bap
tist Church, and an animal lover. Her life was well lived
and loved.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Fogle was also pre
ceded in death by her sons, Neal and Victor Fogle; and
brother, Leon Myers.
Ms. Fogle is survived by her daughter, Beckie Fogle
Johnson (Nick), Jefferson; daughter-in-law, Marilyn
Fogle, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service: Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 3 p.m.

Larry Rice Hanley
DANIELSVILLE — Larry Rice Hanley, 73, Daniels
ville, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Pied
mont Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Hanley was bom in Commerce to the late Spur
geon and Edith Rice Hanley. Mr. Hanley was retired
from Country Boys Gas.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hanley was also pre
ceded in death by his brothers, Ray and Wallace Han
ley; and sister, Janice Drake.
Mr. Hanley is survived by his wife, Willovena Bond
Hanley, Danielsville; sons, Jeremy Hanley, Danielsville
and Wesley Hanley, Commerce; grandchildren, Casey,
Colin, Alayna, Jacob and Breanna; and great-grandson,
Lincoln.
Funeral service: Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 3 p.m.

Evelyn Hawks Haynes
DANIELSVILLE — Evelyn Hawks Haynes, 94,
Danielsville, passed away Thursday, September 30,
2021, in the care of the kind souls at St. Gabriel of Ath
ens.
We rejoice now that she
has been reunited with her
loving family, husband,
James R. Haynes Sr.;
parents, Claud and Leo
na Hawks of the Sanford
community of Nicholson;
and seven brothers and
sisters who preceded her
in death.
Born August 8, 1927,
Evelyn was a life-long res
ident of Madison County.
She graduated from Madi
son County High School and Atlanta Business College,
subsequently working as the office manager for the
Madison County Health Department for over 30 years
until her retirement in the early 1980’s.
She was a veiy active member of Danielsville Baptist
Church for many years and then later in life attended
Friendship Baptist Church. Over the years she taught
many classes, served on many committees, and sang in
many choirs. Her other interests included gardening,
sewing, playing the piano and attending extended fam
ily get-togethers.
Evelyn was a kind, gentle and beautiful woman
who touched so many lives. Her sweet spirit is already
missed but her family looks forward to seeing her again
one day.
Evelyn is survived by sons, James R. (Dick) Haynes
Jr. and George Haynes; daughter, Merrie Haynes Gilles
pie; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service attended by immediate family
members was held at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home
in Danielsville on Monday, October 4, 2021. Interment
was in Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens.

Joseph A. "Joey” Jones
SHELLMAN BLUFF- Joseph A. “Joey” Jones, 61,
died Tuesday, September 14,2021, after a short illness.
Born in Savannah, he grew up in Winder, moving to
Shellman Bluff in 1998 where he owned and operat
ed Bluff Heating and Air, after working in the field in
Winder for many year's prior. An outdoorsman, he loved
fishing at the coast and hunting whenever he could.
Above all, he was a loving husband, brother and
friend, who enjoyed time with his family. An honest,
businessman, he will be greatly missed at the bluff. Al
though he never had children of his own, he was a men
tor to his nieces and nephews, whom he considered his
own. He was Baptist by faith and preceded in death by
his wife, Brenda Duncan Jones.
Survivors are his sisters, Linda Hodges, Ludowici,
Diane Jones Stafford and George, Winder, and Laura
Cassie and Mark DiDonato, Cape Coral, Fla.; brother,
John Jones, Winder; uncle and aunt, Jerry and Onie Al
exander, Shellman Bluff; mother-in-law, Julia Duncan,
Winder; brothers-in-law, Mark Duncan and Janet, Au
burn, and Keith Duncan and Julie, Conyers; and numer
ous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service: Saturday. October 9, 20212 at
1 p.m. at Shellman Bluff Baptist Church Cemeteiy with
the Rev. Brian Smith officiating.

Francis Marion Livengood Sr.
COLBERT — Francis Marion Livengood Sr.,
Colbert, fell asleep in death on Tuesday, October 5,
2021, at his home.
Francis Livengood
was born February 14,
1929, in Redlands, Ca
lif., and graduated from
Redlands High School
in 1947. Fran (as he
was lovingly known)
also served in the Ko
rean War, before set
tling down and marry
ing Marjory (Marge) on
April 11, 1954.
His life changed dra
matically after being introduced to Jehovah’s Wit
nesses through Marge. He began studying the Bi
ble, dedicating his life to his God, Jehovah, and
getting baptized on September 5, 1959.
Fran was a very spiritual man, lovingly caring for
his family and the congregation for many years. He
had the privilege of serving in many congregations
and attending several International conventions
throughout Europe and Central America in the 60s.
He moved to Georgia in the late 80s, followed by
his son, Fran Jr., and his family a few years later.
Fran will always be fondly remembered for his
faithful routine of preaching the good news, even
in “difficult times” (2 Tim 4:2). Fran was a loyal
friend, always greeting you with a firm handshake,
a hug, or better yet, some homemade cookies.
Fran expressed a strong faith in the future para
dise and resurrection hope, and we look forward to
being reunited with our dear friend soon.
He was preceded in death by parents, Samuel
Bruce Livengood and Norah Silvia Harmon; broth
ers, Edwin Ray Livengood, Edward Bruce Liven
good (twins) and Loren David Livengood.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marjory
K Livengood; his son and daughter-in-law, Fran
cis Livengood Jr. and Lupe Livengood; his grand
daughter, Megan Johnson and her husband Brandon
Johnson; along with several nieces and nephews.

nications coordinator.
