Three people charged after undercover drug buy
On Wednesday, Aug. 9, the Madison
County Sheriff’s Office charged three
people with drug charges following an un
dercover buy at an Old Danielsville Road,
Athens, residence.
The following individuals were charged:
•Billy Scott Carter, 32, Goldenrod Court,
Athens, faces charges of felony crossing
guard lines with weapon/drugs/intoxi
cants, possession of methamphetamine and
possession of methamphetamine with the
intent to distribute.
•Jemeldrick Derwan Martin, 34, Grant
Drive, Hartwell, was charged with posses
sion of methamphetamine with the intent
to distribute.
•Glenda Ann Suits, 51, Glenn Carrie
Road, Hull, faces charges of possession of
methamphetamine with the intent to dis
tribute and use of communication facility
in the commission of a felony involving
controlled substances.
Other incidents the Madison County
Sheriff’s Office responded to last week in
clude:
•A motorcycle accident was reported on
Clover Avenue and Laurel Avenue, Com
er. The motorcyclist was transported to the
hospital for injuries.
•A motor vehicle accident was reported
on Fortson Store Road, Hull. Two occu
pants were transported to Piedmont Athens
Regional Medical Center for injuries.
•A motor vehicle accident was reported
on Hwy. 72 East, Comer. Two occupants
were transported to Piedmont Athens Re
gional Medical Center for injuries.
•Aman traveling north on SR 281, Dan
ielsville, reported an accident involving a
deer.
•A woman asked for law enforcement as
sistance in getting her children back from
their father, whom she is in the process of
divorcing, at a home on River Road, Dan
ielsville.
•Lost or mislaid property was reported at
Danielsville City Hall, Government Circle,
Danielsville, where a wallet was found.
•A welfare check was requested on a
48-year-old male at a home on Blackberry
Lane, Danielsville.
•Battery/simple battery - Family Vio
lence Act (FVA) and criminal trespass was
reported at a Hardman Morris Road, Col
bert, residence, where a domestic dispute
was reported involving a female and her
mother.
•A Spratlin Mill Road, Hull, woman re
ported that while she was away from her
home camera footage showed her moth
er removing items from her bedroom and
when she arrived back home she found
broken glass in her bed and in her chair
inside her room. She stated she believed
the incident was in retaliation to her call
ing 911 previously on her brother and him
going to jail.
•An accident involving a deer was re
ported on Wildcat Bridge Road, Daniels
ville.
•A woman reported to the Danielsville
Elementary school resource officer that
her nine-year-old son told her he was being
bullied by his nine-year-old male neighbor
after the two were involved in an off-cam
pus incident earlier.
•Aggravated assault involving three ju
veniles was reported by administrators at
Madison County Middle School.
•Battery/simple battery - FVA and crim
inal trespass was reported at a Charles
Bruce Road, Danielsville, residence, where
a domestic dispute was reported. The com
plainant reported that her ex-boyfriend
took the keys to her car, locked her out of
her house and threw a rock at her vehicle.
•Terroristic threats and acts were re
ported on Hunt Road, Danielsville, where
a man reported his juvenile daughter had
been threatened by other juveniles on the
school bus. The man said his daughter told
him that four to five juveniles who had
been bullying her threatened to “shoot her”
and her friend.
•Simple assault - FVA and suicide at
tempt was reported at a home on New Ha
ven Chmch Road, Danielsville, where a
16-year-old was suicidal and armed with
a knife/hammer was trying to attack his
parents.
•A man on Homestead Road, Daniels
ville, was transported by Madison County
EMS to Piedmont Athens Regional Medi
cal Center for treatment of injuries he re
ceived when the tractor he was working on
ran over him.
•An unruly juvenile was reported at a
home on Noahs Way, Colbert.
•A man reported possible child cruelty at
a home onA.C. Carey Road, Danielsville.
•Battery/simple battery - FVA was re
ported at a home on Martin Griffith Road,
Danielsville, where a domestic dispute be
tween three individuals were involved.
•Battery/simple battery - FVA was re
ported on Martin Griffith Road, Daniels
ville, where a fight was reported.
•Criminal interference with government
property was reported at Madison County
High School, Madison Street, Daniels
ville, after a man became irate and agitated
when he learned that a female freshman he
was picking up was in a meeting running
past its scheduled time. The complainant
reported that two other men who were
with the man had climbed up the side of
the building, lifted a metal outdoor table
and broke two exterior lights that lined the
sidewalks.
•A domestic dispute was reported be
tween a woman and her fiance on Tarpkins
Road, Commerce. The female complainant
stated that her fiance snatched her phone
from her and attempted to lock her out of
the residence.
•A woman on New Town Church Road,
Carlton, reported that the father of her chil
dren barged into the residence and took the
children from her.
•A man on Piedmont Road, Hull, report
ed a burglary at his home.
•Identity fraud was reported at a home
on Watson Drive, Hull.
•A truck, parked partially in the roadway
for several days, on Helican Springs Road,
Hull, was towed from the scene.
•Theft of lost or mislaid property was re
ported on Hwy. 72 East, Comer, where a
cell phone was missing.
•A vehicle fire was reported at a home on
Linda Street, Colbert.
•An unattended death was reported at a
home on Blacks Creek Church Road, Dan
ielsville.
•Reckless conduct was reported at a
home on Katie Lane, Carlton, where a
woman reported that her son was having a
mental episode.
•A drug overdose was reported at a home
on Ed Coile Road, Hull.
•Theft by taking was reported on Hudson
River Church Road, Danielsville, where a
possible overdue motorist/stolen vehicle
was reported.
Athens man charged twice over a two-day period
An Athens man was arrested twice over a
two-day period in Madison County.
On Wednesday, Aug. 9, the Madison
County Sheriff’s Office responded to a
home on Spratlin Mill Road, Hull, where a
woman saw on her camera that her brother
Ian Wilson Foster, 22, River Mont Road,
Athens, was outside her home and this was
a violation of his bond conditions.
Foster was located on the back side of
the property and charged with violation of
a Family Violence Order (FVO).
Previously on Aug. 7, Foster was charged
with exploit/inflict pain to/deprive essen
tial services to disabled person/elder per
son, simple battery - Family Violation Act
(FVA). and violation of a Family Violence
Order (FVO).
Other arrests on file at the sheriff’s office
this past week include:
•Timothy Cain Anglin, 29, Village Park
way, Pendergrass, probation violation.
•Eston O’Neil Callahanll, 59, Douple
Split Road, Danielsville, was charged with
battery - Family Violence Act (FVA), crim
inal damage to property and false imprison
ment for his involved in a domestic dispute
with his wife.
•Kelly Oneal Cox, 30, Ed Coile Road,
Hull, probation violation.
•David Curtis Dean, 55, Jack Sharp Road,
Danielsville, failure to register as a sex of
fender/failure to comply with requirements/
provided and probation violation.
•Elizabeth Louann Dobson, 30, Slate Av
enue, Jefferson, probation violation.
•Chasity Leigh Gresham, 28, Hwy. 72
West, Colbert, probation violation.
•Rey Garcia Hernandez, 36, Hwy. 29
North, Lot FI7, Hull, brake lights and turn
signals required, driving without a valid
driver’s license, Driving Under the Influ
ence (DUI) of alcohol, open container in
a vehicle, possession of methamphetamine
and windshields and windshield wipers vi
olation.
•Carlie-Ann Alexis Pearson, 25, Edwards
Lane, Danielsville, was charged with bat
tery - FVA and cruelty to children after her
husband reported she sprayed him and his
children with pepper spray.
•Ricky James Ramsey, 47, Lakeview Cir
cle, Danielsville, sentenced.
•Joseph Thomas Roberts, 41, Lamey
Lane, Colbert, driving while driver’s li
cense is suspended or revoked, DUI -
drugs, failure to drive within a single lane,
improper signal, possession of marijuana
and adult seat belt violation.
•Andrew Paul Rossi, 23, Commerce
Road, Athens, was charged with two counts
of aggravated assault and home invasion

Qualifying for Special & General Election
Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 21-2-540,
the City of Carlton shall hold a special election to fill the vacant posi
tion of Council Member, Post # 5, previously held by Pete Wagenaar
who resigned effective December 27, 2023. The term for this position
will expire December 31, 2025. The special election will be held on
November 7, 2023.
Qualifying for the General Election in the City of Carlton will be held
Tuesday, August 22, 2023, 8:00 am -12:00 noon and 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm;
Wednesday, August 23, 2023, 8:00 am - 12:00 noon and 5:00 pm - 7:00
pm; and Thursday, August 24, 2023, 8:00 am -12:00 noon and 5:00 pm
- 7:00 pm at Carlton City Hall, 21 S Seventh Street, Carlton, Georgia.
Positions to be filled are Mayor (Cynthia Hobbs incumbent); Council
Member Post 1 (Tim Seymour incumbent), and Council Member Post
2 (Amanda Willis incumbent).
Qualifying fee for Mayor is $45.00. Qualifying fee for Council Mem
ber is $30.00.
Voter Registration deadline for the November 7th election is October
10, 2023.
