Our Distinguished Senators, Gordon and Hill Splendid Por traits OB’ Them. —Wc are in receipt of two magnificent line engravings of tho statosmen whose names head this article. They form part of a series, em bracing tho portraits of tho distinguish ed living Southern statesmen, which is being published by a leading Southern house. They are truthful likenesses — speaking images of the great originals, and executed in the highest style of engraving. They are both splendid #Orks of art, nud destined to take their places in the homes of our people, be aide Stuart’s Washington and other mastorpicces. The manly, noble, generous features of our beloved Gordon, stand out as it endued with life. The fire of the uu daunted grey eyo, tho intellect of the massive brow, the battle-soar red cheek, all show tho gallant man who has led his people in war and in peace. The portrait of Hill is no less cess—true in all its details to the great statesman, but as different from that of Gordon as aro tho two men. But ev ery characteristic of the man is finely expressed by the portrait of this son of Georgia. Tiwo forbids a more extended notice. We can only recommend to our readers theso pictures, and the enterprise, na tive and homeborn, which gives them to ue. Mr. James T. Gray, Atlanta, Ga., is tho general agent, and desires au agent in every town and county of this State, to placo the portraits before the people. Apply to him for agencies or for the portraits. In small doses of one pill a day, they stimulate the digestive organs and promote vigorous health. Ayer’s Pills have been known for more than a quarter of a century, and have obtained a world-wide reputation for their virtues. They correct diseased action in the several assimilative organs of the body, and are so composed that obstruc tions within their range can rarely with stand or evade them. Not only do they cure the every-day complaints of every body, but also formidable -and dangerous diseases that have baffled the best of human skill. While they produce power ful effects, they are, at the same time, the ; safest and best physic for children. By their aperient action they gripe much less than the common purgatives, and never give pain when the bowels are not inflamed. They reach the vital fountains of the blood, and strengthen the system by freeing it from the elements of weakness. Adapted to all ages and conditions in all climates, containing neither calomel nor any deleterious drug, these Pills may be taken with safety by anybody. Their 1 sugar-coating preserves them ever fresh, 1 and makes them pleasant to take; while being purely vegetable, no harm can arise from their use in any quantity. PKEI’ARKt) BY Dr. J,C.
