The morals of the young men of Cal houn are a matter of frequent remark. For good character generally they are bird to excel. Wesley Harkins is at his home in Calhoun, having returned one dny this week on account of a threatened attack of lever. Several wagon loads of fine peaches were sold on the streets this week by our farmers. The farmers become well Hfq tainted, we presume. “By their Iruita ye shall know them.” A certain young inn of Calhoun must be capable of wonderful insectile transformation, as his brother boarders single him out as the one who makes the buffer fly. Lost. On last Monday morning a fine gold pen and pen-holder was dropped on the streets of this place. The finder will be liberally rewarded by leaving the same at this office. tf Is the crisis coming hitherward ? Died, on the 30th of July, 1877, Miss Margaret Emma Donaldsou, sec* ond daughter of R. A. and K. G. Don aldson. She had been for several years a consistent member of Sonera Pres byterian church. For nearly twelve months preceding her death she had been lingering with disease. She was sometimes troubled with doubts of her love to Jesua, but at last gaining the victory over all doubts, she passed with out fear through the dark valley of the shadow of death. H. We are glad to see in our mid t this week Prof. C. W. Langworthy, of Rome, who is paying a visit to this part of his territory in the interest of his business. He is the agent for Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee, for the popu lar instruments of 15. Shoninger & Cos., and wc are glad to learn that he is meeting with the moat flattering suc cess in their sale in this part of the country. Their pianos meet the wants of the public in a cheap but valuable instrument, and their organs aro all that could be desired in both respects. The Professor is an experienced tuner of instruments, and any work entrusted to him in this line will be promptly and satisfactorily attended to. The experi ence of many has clearly proven the wisdom of dealing with a responsible agent near homo, whose recommenda tion and guarantee is worth considera tion, and we trust that any of our read ers who may wish instruments or work will give Prof. Langwortby a trial. With a palm leaf fan half the sire of a window shutter in his hand, he was frantically endeavoring to keep cool and fan away the flies, while he sighed and wondered what would become of the corpulent man with a bald pate. Mrs. Margaret J. Ea#on, wife of Mr. James R. Eason, died in. th,is place- on last Sunday evening. She was a con sistent member of the M. E. Church, was untiring in her Christian acts, and died professing hope of eternal salva tion. Our sympathies go out to the sorrow-stricken family.
