CALHOUN TIMES M:\VS. If you Lave no otLer way of finding it out, we’ll tell you. Wyatt left for the St. Louis Convention Friday raj; t. fie goes to represent himself aud will vote for the mao who is nominated. A pleasant trip to you, Frank. Masonic Notice.—The members of Oothcaloga Lodge, F. A. M.,are earnest ly requested to be present at the next, regular meeting—the fourth of July. Business of importance will be before the lud fc e at that time. B. M. Harlan, Sec. A Musical Treat—Lost Friday q\ o ing Mrs. J. E. Parrott arrayed the Jit tlo people uuder her instruction, for an exhibition of their progress, before their parents and a few invited friends, and those who were fortunato enough to be present spent the time pleasantly in lis tening to the performance of the little girls as they attacked the piano each in turn, and gave evidence of their com? prehensiveness and agility in this extra accomplishment. Misses idamio and Lula Pitts played and sang several pieces with great jrjcision, and showed to their friends they had received in-* etruction to advantage, and Miss Anna Parrott rendered some very difficult pieces in a manner surprising, never* al ethers cf the little girls did well, and considering that they were all uuder the age of twelve years, with one excep tion and had only boon studying music lor a few mouths, deserved praise. The evening was rendered doubly pleasant by the supplement for the occasion of some tine melons, which, from their ear ly arrival, were considered very deli cious. We present elsewhere to-day a com munication from Mr J. G. B. Erwin at Fuirarouot,' who presumes to contend that tiro Democracy of the county cun., not be fairly represented in the meeting to he held at this place next Tuesday. While we are willing to give any hon orable voter the benefit ol his opinion we are sincere in the belief that Colonel Young in choosing the manner of elec* ting the delegates conscientiously did that which lie believed would best sub serve the interest of the party. The time for election of delegates is km.tod the day appointed being a public day brings together of necessity many or the voters of the county, and In hold ing meetings iu the several militia d.s triets the chances are that a number o. the districts would be unrepresented. — Those who feel an interest in the selec tion of delegates will be present any way if they have to make sacrifices, and if the people’s will is defeated no one is to blame but those who stay away. 'I be people cun elect their men aud we hope they will do it. A Voice from Fairmoimt. Fairmount, Ga., June 2G, 1870 Editor Times .—lt is a very easy matter to assemble the clans in and aioutnl town and defeat any effort an honorable few from the country might bo deti oue of promoting. Ido not mean by this to imply that there is a greater proportion of honorable men in the coun try than town, but I do mean that this mode of calling conventions at coun>y towns is unjust to tho country people, and gives to the former or county towns men such power and advantage over the politics of the county as is unjust and uncalled for, aud tnat it tends to disor ganization, dissatisfaction, and disastrous political consequences. You might now ask any honest man in Gordon why this call was thus made, and were he to answer al all, it would be that it was intended to prevent, ii possible, a free, full and fair expression of opinion. I have but a ra'nt uope that the convention Will in Fun least re present the wishes of the people ol Gor don, and do not believe the Call was made with any such iiuenLou. it is labor harder than a week s wo. k to leave home and rde tLurty-bix miles theso hot days. Respectfully J. C. B. Erw x. An absent minded Ohio womaQ got tbe coffee-pot ready for boiling aud then carefully placed it on a cliair and sat herself on the stove. Although tr.o occasion was dreadfully suggestive of Bouiy of the early martyrs she managed to derive some consolation out of it from the well improved opportunity it afforded her of obliging her husDand to huy her a now dress which, as soon as fi he was well enough, she made up lier elf with tho assistance of the “Domes Fig’ Fashions and a “Domestic ’ sew.ng Machine. Ihe Sandersville Herald says : "The report from the wheat crop ol this courty is much better than was an ticipated by the most sanguine. They have had their wheat threshed, and the yield is very good. Of course the quantity wag reduced to a certain ex tent by rust, but the amount produced !t the county F the largest for mau hears. cci. oh:icol. j H; w j Tie - t.7>i.. • cf ec?. Daorte Dalton, Ga., June 26, 1876. Ed;tor Tuner: —The time is close at hand when the counties the Seventh Congressional District will op* poiot delegates to nominate a candidate for Congress. Many have been spoken ol—occasionally the name of the writer has been mentioned in connection with the candidacy. 1 write to simply say, I am not a can. didute, and my name will not be men tioned in the convention at my instance. W hen the whole field is surveyed, it is my individual opinion, that Col. \V. 11. Dabney, of Rome, should be nominat ed. I believe it will be doae with great unanimity. To speak of his fitness and qualifications is useless to those who know him. Respectfully, J. A. \Y. Johnson. ■■ ——— Old Age is Honorable.—Thisi3 truo but how few of us like to look old. Nature’s Remedial Agents—lt is said that for every disease that effects Buffeting humanity nature has prov ded a remedy, and all that u;a.. has to do is to discover these remedial agents aud apply them to their appropriate ailmeuts. These arc uustly found iu the vegetable kingdom, and roots, barks, herbs, grain, and other simple and harmless ingredi cuts are more effective than any of the mineral poisons used so freely by many physicians, ihc celebrated Dr Rad cl,ff, in the Seven 8 cals or Golden VVoxder, has compounded a vegetable remedy peculiarly adapted for a wide range of diseases, combining as it does the curative properties of a great num ber of the most effective roots, herbs and ba r ks.
