CALHOUK TIMES LOCAL NEWS." Tiie irost of liard times having nip ped the budding pockot'book, ye people ; sigh over the departure of the black berry crop. Call this hot weather 7 Those who don’t pay the printer may one day reach i a warm climate to which this wouldn't be blood heat. Miss Julia Jones was married Sunday evening to Mr. George Shaw, of this county. The ceremony was per formed by Geo. W. R&naone, Justice of the Peace. An outraged parent a few days ago remarked that matters were getting too public around his premises to be desira ble and he didn’t care to have his house use! as a court house any longer. The girl didn’t take the hint. John Kiker is pleased muchly, yea. Viri.y, a great deal; for what is more calculated to soothe a young married man’s feelings or bring out prominently all the dignity of his nature than to be a daddy 7 A bouncing big boy arrived at his house Monday. An edegant little baby carriage ar rived by express Monday marked to Thomas Fall Foster, in care of the Judge. It was sent by Mr. Thomas Fall, of the prosperous hardware house of Gray, Kirkmari A Cos., Nashville who in this way chose to remember his lit* lie namesake. When a lank-sided follow comes in* to our office, puts his legs on our table, jerks up our exchanges, tangles them about and leaves them, after having made a pool of tobacco juice right where wo will put our feet leavej with a re mark that he wiil call again, right there forb a ance ceases to be a v rtue, nndwe sigh fora Bigardus kicker to soothe him off. After this issue we shall be forced to begin to erase from our lists many names of delinquents. It is with much reluctaney that vve do this, but in jus tice to ourselves we cautiot send out the paper to those who let their subscrip tions run from year to year without set tlement, after having received appeals from us that we were in need of funds *o run our business. We have to pay cash for everything it takes to run the Times and un css we get help we can not meet our expenses and are forced to the exoedient of cutting down our ex penses in every possible way. It is-our aim to ad*xt the cash in advance sys tem, which we will do without discrim nntioo at an early day. We find it very hard at best to keep up the ends but when we must pay cash for all we get are compelled to have cash to sustain us. •Statements will be sent out to all in arrears just as sjon as we can fin I tim e to get them up, and we would be glad that u!l who are behind wi j t make ar\ rangeuieuts for the continuation of their papers After we have sent out state ments then we shall begin to revise our list, leaving ou’y those who pay up or give us some assurances that we need to expect iicip as soon as it becomes conve nient. We will act taiily with those treat us fairly. Gordon’s Voice- TII i: (ONV EN TIO N MON DA V. Colquitt the I‘eopie‘s Choice. Calhoun, Ga., July 17, 1870. Many of those medicines hnv ’nad their day, and v.e hear no more of them. Their proprietors have made fortunes, not so much from the cura tive powers and virtues of their mix tures, as from the notoriety given them by advertising, by which people were made to believe all the good that was said of them. A preperation is nqw popular and is known, as Bradficld’s Fe male Regulator, put up by L. 11. Brid field, of Atlanta, Ga., at 81.50 per bot*> tie. Such is its curative virtunes, that it has gained wide-spread popularity all over the country where if has been known and it is being introduced every where. We are informed that immense quantities of this medicine are being sold in all sections of to South and South-west especially in the city of New Orleans and in Texas.
