M O N 1) AY, February 16, 1807,
TO THE PUBLIC.
IN reply to the advertisement
of A. S. Rhodes, the North Ca
rolina gentleman, (as he stiles
, himself), cautioning all persons
against crediting me, on his ac
count, or harboring me —I think
proper to state a few facts —This
gentleman, whom unfortunately,
I was persuaded by interested
persons to marry, arrived here
about two months ago destitute
of money and clothes, and with
out any apparent meant of sup.
port ; Such a caution from him
is therefore somewhat ludicrous.
He has sold a quantify of my
cotton and has carried of my sil
ver plate and other articles with
a view I have no doubt to con
vert them into cash j He has cru
elly beat and abused me, so that
I did not conceive nty life in
safety by living with him , I am
therefore determined to separate
myself from him for life, and I
do hereby forwarn all persons
front bargaining with him for any
property belonging to the estate
of Joseph Welicher, inv late
husband, as he has no rightor
authority to dispose of any part
of it.
Instead of the name of Rhodes,
I resume that of.
