connected with the vote on the
•impeachment ~f die governor,
which deserve notice, ;m th#.,. are
important evidences of the eflf-cts
of the inquiry into the governor’ 3
conduct.”
” At the election for pove-nor
in 1805, general Piper and his fa
mily were, among die most ac
tive and zealous of Thom is M*
Kean’s friends. William Pfer,
a *on of the general’s, was taken
tip bv the friends of the governor
and returned to the assembly,
tor Bedford cmwtv. Since he
has been at Lancaster, be has e
vinced a candid disposition, and
a desire to vote for every mea
sure which tended to the welfare
of the country. The inquiry in
to the governor’s conduct, has
produced such an effect on the
; mind ofthis gendetnan, that he
this day in committee of the
whole, voted for the adaption
< the re olntion, to imtieich
’Phomas M Kean of hitrh critn?s
and misdemeanors. No doubt,
exists in my mind, that there are
thousands, who voted for fho
mas M K ■-an, at his last election,
who deeply deplore his miscon
duct, and like Vlr. Piper, are wil
ling that justice should be done,
without respect to persons.”
“ The other circumstance to
which I alluded, shews a despe
ration in the personal friends of
the governor, horde ing upon a
derangement of intellect. After
the adjournment of the house,
and the impeachment was car
ried, Thama t M Kean, the son
of tlie governor, armed with a
bludgeon, (what beside heaven
knows) insulted more than one
of the members of the house, not
only by intuiting gestures and
menacing looks, hut by insolent
language. I have not heard all
the particulars, but am respecta
bly informed, that one of the
members turning on his heal, be
stowed on young iW‘Kean a look
of ineffable contempt, and said
“ Piav sir, do you mean to make
a blackguard olyaurselt.”—Has
tings, the priva e secretary oi the
governor, attended young M l
Lean and per ic.i'ce took iitm a
way.”
L i# whispered that in the
morning, a motion will be made
to bring the son of the governor
before the house, for a bleach ol
privilege, in insulting the mem
bets on their way to their lodg
ings from the state*house.’’
“ It is probable that the house
will not adjourn until Saturday
or Monday n- x , there*are two
very important bills now in the
governor’s possession, and the
legi Inure are determined not
to adjourn until his excellency
makes known his determina
tion.”

right, by which you will enable
