Thr l.ury I.nvrs “Ion,” Washington Baltimore Sun,' writes gard to tlie repeal of th anticipated report of tii tee of the House is a good move in the right quarter. Should the recommendation fi.r their repeal go forth, it will have the effect, to fix the attention of the country Upon the greatest social and financial reform of the age, coming, a« it will, from so high a source. The effect cannot he otherwise than •lalutary. The mind of the country has on ly to be fully aroused to the importance «>f the reform to guarantee complete‘success. We sincerely believe that the proposed re form will do more towards destroying un sound Baking institutions than all the tink ering legislation that could be conceived.— It will make of every man, who can control n. surplus monied capital, a banker, to some extent, and will thus force upon the market a supply of the circulating medium c-t.m- mensurate with the interests and demands of trade and business. “Ion” thus writes: I am gratified to know that the enlighten ed and able committee on the judiciary of the House will make a report i:i favor of the abolition or essential modification of the usury laws—laws framed for feudal times, and growing out of relations then ■ : ' ting between the land holders and lender*.
