TESTIMONIALS.
Athens, September 23, 1853.
I'hAK S:k:—1 receive.fi several days .since, your favor,
asking my opinion of tlie Mefiical merits of the Calhoun
Pi!Is. Allow me to premise, that for the last ten years
I have been tortured in body anfi mind, by tho-Jiemon
Indigestion. I was enfimved by nature with an admir
able constitution, nnd my formidable malady has been
superinduced by a cost ive habit, brought on by too close
confinement and want of regular exercise. Never hav
ing sufficient leisure to starve out disease, even if it fee
possible to do so, which I very much doubt, I have run
the rounds of all the most approved cures aud allevia-
tives. I have tried in their turn—Lee’s, Peters’s,
Branrtrelh's, Cook’s, Hill’s, Spencer’s Smith*f, and ma
ny other Patent Pills and Dyspepsia Drugs, which have
come within my reach, and contrary to the commonly
expressed opinion, T inns' bearmy humble testimony in
favor of the virtue of each and all of these Nostrums.
I p.r.i by a Box of Pill a. by a Book which is not of
a vicious tendency. I uever bought either, which I
did nut think fully worlli tiie money which it cost.
It is only necessary to add. which I do most cheerfu
lly—not only through kindness to you. but to the pub
lic also, especially that portion of it who know, by sad
experience, what is meant by the Vulture-like gnawing
at ti e pit of the stomach, bitter taste in tlie mouth,
flatulence, a entity, distension of the stomach, consti
pa ted bowels cold fee? and acute pain In the head,
back end vicinity • f the heart—to all such, I can cor
dially recommend tho Calhoun I'ills. Tlie efficacy of
thi.i I’omed*cal Agent, I tested for the first time, du
ring ray recent sojourn with you, and have used it fre
quently since, and have found, experimentally, that it

the application.
Mine was Acute Rheumatism in the back—so bad
that I was confined to my bed for the Inst six months.
The first hoi '.ic acted like a charm, the second restored
strength to my poor afflicted back, andl am now as
well and feel as young as when 1 was sixteen, lam
now 74 years of age.
I consider your Tincture the greatest discovery of the
age and poor suffering humanity ought to erect :l monu
ment to Dr. .Hampton, who has saved thousands from
pain. And you, gentlemen. have acted the part of pub-
tic benefactors in disseminating the benefits which
have resulted from your invaluable remedy.
