A GREEABLE to an order of the Hon. the Court of
Ordinary’, of Cherokee county, will bo sold on the
flrpt Tuesday in November next, betweeu the legal
hour* of sale, before the courthouse door in Canton,
Cherokee county, the following lots of lands, being the
plantation .and out lots attached thereto, whereon Jer
emiah Field lived at the time of his decease, viz:
Lota Nos. 1, 2, 3, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72 73. 74, 75, 76,
140, 141, 142, 143, 144, 146, 147, and all that part of
145 lying on the West side of Etowah river, all in the
15th District. 2d section, also Non. 18, 54, and 55 of the
14th District, 2nd section, and 37, 34, in the 21st, Dis
trict, 2nd sec., and seventy acres more or leu of No. 18,
22nd district and 2nd section.
The above lands lie adjoining and contiguous to each
other, forming one ot the most desirable farms in Up
per Georgia. There is on this plantation about 400
acres of the best Etowah bottom lands mostly cleared
and in a high state of cultivation. There is on the
place a merchant mill, saw mill, and corn mill, with
an abundance of water to run as much more machine
ry as a purchaser might want to put in operation. There
is a splendid Toll Bridge across the Etowah River with
a fine run of custom, being the thoroughfare for mov
ers and travellers to North Alabama and Mississippi.
There is also on the place dwelling house, negro hou
ses, cotton-gin, and all necessary outbuildings.

Steamboat Disasters on the Western Waters,
and Steamboat Directory.
T HE undersigned have now in
coarse of preparation, a new —5*
STEAMBOAT DIRECTORY, which will be issued
in October next; the book will contain over 200
pages, illustrated in the best style, and neatly
bound in a durable manner. It will be one of the
most interesting Books ever published, and will
be a book that will be interesting to all classes ot
people. The Steamboat Directory will contain a
complete list and description of all tho Steamboats
now afloat in the Western and Southern waters.—
The length, model, speed, power and tonnage of
each boat, where and by whom built, the name of
the boat, with the trade she is in. Also, the names
of Captains a"d officers, her age, Ac., Ac. The
Directory will contain a History of Steamboats and
Steamboating on the Western waters, since the ap
plication of steam: also, a sketch of the first boat
built for the Ohio River, with the name of the
bniider, commander and owner.
The RIVER DIRECTORY will contain a list
and description of all the Steamboat Disasters
that have occurred on the Western and Southern
waters, beautifully illustrated, with a list of all
those who have perished by their burning, sink
ing and exploding, on the Western and Southern
waters. The Directory will contain Maps of the

list of all the responsible Steamboat Licensed offi
cers, their places of residence, Ac., At*: the new
Steamboat Law, its requirements, with i-ominents,
showing wherein it benefit* the incompetent ofiicer,
and injure* the competent ofiicer, Ac., Ac., and all
the important U. S. Supreme Court Steamboat De
cisions up to date: the Rates aud important Com
mercial Privileges, Bills of Lading, important De
cisions oi the various U. States Courts in regard

Tho Directory will be illustrated in the beet
style, and printed in the best manner. The au
thor has for six years been gathering together ail
the facts and items in regard to the numerous
steamboat disasters on tbe Western and Southern
waters, and now intends publishing them in book

low sum of One Dollar. Ten thousand copies will
be issued lbr the boatmen; all others desirous of
subscribing, will have to do so at ouc-e, us none
will be printed unless ordered in advance. The
work is destined to nave a circulation of over
80,000 copies, as the publishers are receiving large
numbers of subscribers, per mail, from all parts of
tho country, daily. Some of tbe oldest boatmen,
as well as most scientific men of the times, are
contributors to the Steamboat Directory.
The Directory will be issued in October, and
will be an ornament to the parlor, a3 well as steam
