Down East, there resides a certain M. D.—
One very cold night he was roused from his slum

to the window and asked. ‘Who’s there?’ ‘Friend.’
A ‘What do you want?’ ‘Want to stay here all night.’
‘Stay there then,’ was the benevolent repty, and
down went the sash.

Liver Complaint,
The only remedy ever offered to the public that
has never failed to cure, when directions are follow
ed, is M’Lane’s Liver Pills, prepared by Fleming
Bros., Pittsburg, Pa. It has been several years be
fore the public, and has been introduced in all sec
tions of the Union. Where it has been used, it has
had the most triumphant success, and has actually
eft-iven out of use all other medicines. It has been
tried under all the different phases of Hepatis, and
has been found equally efficacious in all.

(Jwjg&iated Bitters. Facts within our own
knowledge justify the belief that the Oxygenated
Bitters is a very valuable medicine. By submitting
the composition to the judgment of scientific men,
the proprietor has obviated some of the strongest ob
jections against most advertised medical prescrip
tions. It is declared by so eminent a chemist as Mr.
Haves to be a scientific preparation, and adapted, in
all its component parts, and as a whole, for use in
the cases which it is recommended. We know, tcc
that at least one practising physician, a man of thor
ough science, and who knows the composition of the
medicine, has the same opinion of it that Mr. Hayes
expresses, and has, accordingly, used it in his prac
tice. The certificates speak of the actual effects of
the medieine in cases of Dyspepsia, Asthma, &c., in
terms that would be thought extravagant but for the
intelligence and character of the gentlemen who sign
them.

To tlie Afflicted.
“'I-deem it a duty I owe to society, especially to
the .afflicted, to offer this testimonial in favor of their
medicine, “Perry Davis’ Pain Killer.” When pass
ing through Galena, some two weeds ago, I purchas
ed at your agency a25 cent bottle. I was then suf
fering from a severely bruised hand; I applied it in
the store, and was astonished at the almost instanta
neous relief. Before 1 left the store the inflamma
tion was removed, and in less than an hour the pain
ceased. In two days my hand was well as ever.—
Finding it to be really a remedy, I determined to try
its effects as a curative for the Piles, to which I have
been a martyr for years. After five dressings, my
piles were among the things that had been ; I am
now entirely free from them, and in as good health
asjyerl was in my life, i have recommended the
Pain Killer to others, and always with good effect.—
Several of the captains of the upper river boat3 car
ry with them a constant supply, and consider it one
of the most valuable medicines ever discovered.
I am, dear sir, respectfully yours,

Holloway’s Ointment and Pills, the
most effectual reined for old wounds and ulcers. —
The wonderful cures daily effected by these celebra
ted remedies have esta fished them with the citizens,
of the Union, as two of the finest preparations ever
made fl&own, and it is an astonishing fact, that they
will heal and cure old wounds and ulcers of twenty
years standing, even after every other treatment has
been resorted to ineffectually. All cutaneous erup
tions readily yield to their mighty power; and for
the cure of Asthma, they are invaluable.

HANCOCK LAND FOR SALE.
IF not previously disposed of, will be sold before
the Court House and or, in the town of Sparta,
Hancock county, on the Ist TUESDAY in DECEM
BER next, between the usual hours of sale, the val
uable tract of LAND lying on Beaverdam creek, 2
miles below the village of Powelton, and readily re
cognised as having recently belonged to R. Burnly,
Esq. Said tract embraces 1050 ACRES, more or
less, one hundred of which are cleared, the ballance
in the woods. To a man wishing to engage in the
lumber business, this place offers rare inducements,
as the greater portion of it is heavily timbered pine
land, with a good market for all the lumber that can
be earned. There is, also, a strong probability that
the Warrenton and Macon Railroad will be built, the
sun f eyed route of which runs in a mile and a half
of the place. If built the place would be almost in
valuable. There is, already, a good saw miii on the
premises, with sufficient water power, winter and
summer, and by repairing the dam the purchaser
can commence operations immediately- a good farm
can be carried on at the same time, as the tract con
tains about 250 acres of excellent oak and hickory
land, all of which are uncleared, lie well and well wa
tered.
The terras of sale are, one-third cash, —the balance
in one and two years, with interest. Any informa
tion can be obtained by addressing the subscriber.
