The Barb. (Atlanta, Ga.) 197?-197?, April 01, 1975, Image 12
Brandy Lee is one of the most
exciting personalities to
emerge on the Atlanta show
scene in many a moon. . . I say
the Atlanta scene as I have
seen her at the ONYX. Really
she is in town after just
opening the club in Boston and
now is rehearsing for the
Atlanta opening of CABARET
AFTER DARK.
“I‘m very excited about
being in Atlanta, everyone is
so friendly, I think they like
me,” she beamed brushing
her long flowing lock from her
beautiful tan face.
‘Tve sang at the Onyx, Roski
Fernandies is my friend. We
knew each other on the
islands. One nite she asked me
on stage. I didn't want to go up
there, but I‘m so glad I did, I
sang and they liked me.” She
kind of giggled. . .Liked her,
they loved her. I know what
she imeant, not having her
music and all ... A quietness
fell over the place as she sang.
“I‘ve never mimed, see I was
trained in Honolulu, Hawaii
when I worked with the
community theatre groups. . .
I did West Side Story,
Showboat, no, no I did the boy
bit in those shows. . . I just
never had the feel for
pantomine. Then I joined the
show at the Glades there and
came to Los Angeles state
side. I love it.”
In 1970 Brandy was appear
ing at the Redwood Bar in Los
Angeles, it was a famous show
bar and I visited it and was just
crushed not to find JUDY
GARLAND there, a favorite
hang out of hers. While in LA
she won the “Internaional
Show Queen Crown” and
‘‘Miss National Cotillian
Queen.”
Last year when BRANDY
LEE walked on stage in New
York revealing her obvious
bosoms in a very slinky gown
and belting out “Maybe this
Time” she left a cheering
audience and walked away
with the title “MISS DAVID
1973.”
“MAKE MINE BRANDY”
opened in Boston at the
Cabaret to smash reviews. . .
she was their darling, and
that's great in Boston. The
review will be the same
extravaganza type show, when
they open. . . She has been
invited out to Denver by the
Political Movement Club for
the Empress Ball later this
month. Brandy Lee, Shawn
(“Miss Gay America”), and
Roski Fernandes (“Miss Club
South 1974 ”), are really three
great (pineapples) when they
getr together, like they did at
Roski's homecoming. . .
Watch THE BARB for the
opening of Cabaret. See the
show and you‘11 be yelling
“MAKE MINE BRANDY
TOO.” —Phyllis Killer
