Flossie Florida Reports
fay Peter Thomas
Hope springs eternal in the
human breast (thank you,
Alexander Pope) so with the
advent of June your own dear
Flossie has taken her wed
ding gown off the mothballs,
and win gratefully consider
any and all proposals - of
MARRIAGE that is! It was
purchased mail order in 1931,
and with the revival of old
styles I should be quite the
eyeful when I prance down
the alley. Typographer, that
should be AISLE! Meanwhile
I'll be flying around Florida
on my electric broom and
reporting the sunny news
from the sunny state.
FT. LAUDERDALE: THE
METROPOLITAN COM
MUNITY CHURCH‘s con
ference was very well-
attended with represen
tatives from Atlanta, St.
Petersburg, Columbia, S.C.
and ever so many other
places. Read the full report in
this issue of the BARB. Many
of the attending members
stayed at the BELA-MAR
MOTEL, one of Ft.
Lauderdale’s most com
fortable, clean, and gracious
vacation motels. I keep
hearing such wonderful things
about this charming spot
which pleases me enormously
because Peter and Ed are my
dearest, dearest friends, and
1 stay there whenever I’m in
town....The word is out that
TACKY’S BAR will be
opening in June, so you can
all look forward to a GREAT
new place. It’ll be located at
2509 West Broward, and I’ll
bet.my brand-new boots that
it’ll be an instant success.
Naturally I know the lovelies
that are opening this
newspot! Don’t I know
everybody ? Getting
fantabulous reports on
NANA’s UNISEX HAIR-
CUTTERS at 17 South
Atlantic Ave. Lots of the
pussycats are getting their
hair done here, and come out
purring and prettier than
ever...Popped over to
TONY’S VILLA on Wilton
Manor Drive for a' late Italian
dinner with one of. my many
ardent admirers. Marvelous
food, reasonable prices,
divine service, which may
explain Why it is fast
becoming one of the most
popular eateries in town....
Have you heard that the
sensational NOLY GREER is
the new h^SS FLORIDA
‘75? Dropped in at the
ZANZIBAR for some af
ternoon refueling and met
such a nice crowd. The decor
is pure Tennessee Wiliams,
and so comfortable and
friendly THE JAY BIRD
NEWS just never stops
surprising, me! Everytime I
drop in for a social (AHEM!)
visit, the boys have a new line
of books, films, and toys
designed to titillate the
gonads. Drop them a line at
2515 West Broward Blvd. for
the spanking new catalogue.
You’ll love it!
POMPANO: Simply can’t
stay away from RUTHIE’S
GOLDEN GARTER. Two
bars, good music, large
dancing area, and beautiful
bartenders, all combine to
make this a superspot. The 4
a.m. closing doesn’t hurt
either. For loads of talent
both on and off the stage
catch the weekly Disco
Dollier Revue.at 11:30p.m. on
Sunday.
HALLENDALE: My word,
in the month of June alone
KEITH’S BAR is featuring a
Bare A— Night, a Jockey
Shorts Dance Contest, and a
Model of the Year Contest.
That’s the way to keep things
moving and topshowman
Keith really make this bar go.
HOLLYWOOD: Would I
have a chance at the
LOCKER ROOM’S June
Bride Special? The town is
buzzing that it’s the place to
go if you’re looking for a
husband. And let’s face it
girls, anyone who says they
aren’t looking for one, should
have the ceiling drop on their
heads for telling lies!
MIAMI: Did you get to the
Mr. Ramrod contest
presented by the Colts at the
RAMROD? Breath-taking my
dears, absolutely breath
taking! Love the
SECOND LANDING. A
marvey place with disco
dancing each and every night
TMENTS are so very, very
popular, but I’m sure you can
get a reservation if you use
Flossie’s name. Call Vince at
294-4598 today!....Of course,
no visit to Key West is
complete without one, or
maybe a dozen, visits to
DELMONICO’S. Ifs simply
the bar ,to drink at....I can’t
tell you often enough times
about the PORT OF CALL
restuarant and the wonderful
food, the excellent service,
and the pleasant atmosphere.
It’s a culinary treat that you
won’t forget.
How sad! It’s time to say,
not good-bye, but only au
revoir until next month. Until
then I hope you’ll all live by
the Flossie Florida Beauty
Principle, and that is the
beauty of kindness,
thoughtfulness, and love for
all -fellow human beings.
Believe me when I tell you
that it’s the only kind of
beauty that will never, never
fade. Love to all my brothers
and sisters from Flossie.
til 5:00 a .m Do dine at the
BACHELOR’S II a most
popular eatery that serves
until LOO AY EM, and liquor
is served as well News is
that Jack Campbell,
President of the Club Bath
chain will be running for
Miami City Commissioner,
Group Three, in THE
November 11 general elec
tion. Prepare now to vote
then.
DAYTONA: No visit to
Florida is complete without a
trip to the ZODIAC LOUNGE
one of the most popular
showbars in the USA. Two
shows are featured nightly,
and Monday is talent night. If
you’ve heard the rumor that
I’m dusting off and polishing
up my very own “Flossie
Aint The Floozie that
Florida Says She Is,” it’s
probably true.
