TENNESSEE TALES
by B.K., & keggy
Fleming
ED'S NOTE: Oh for
the quiet and calm days when
Kathy and Larry Foster wrote
Tennessee Tales! No, that's not
true. We actually are very
pleased and excited that Ten
nessee Tales has gotten so lively.
Competition is what gives us
better service and Knoxville has
two hot bars that are competing
for your business. That's good
for you. From what we can
gather it a friendly if
somewhat fierce competition.
Fortunately the management of
both lounges can visit each
others business and remain on
good terms. Knoxville is not the
only city in Tennessee. Things
are happening in Memphis,
Chattanooga, and Nashville. We
report those that we know of and
urge you to write us if you have
some hot news.
Speaking of hot news, Nash
ville's Misty Leigh brought the
House to its feet one Monday
winning at Atlanta’s Sweet Gum
Head. John Austin and SGH
show director, Dina Jacobs had
high praise for her performance.
She might be a regular soon at
one of Atlanta’s hot clubs.
And speaking of hot clubs,
Regina Ray and Lennie La Toke
two frequent stars of Nashville’s
OTH ER SIDE are currently out of
work. It seems Regina got
annoyed at the oomment of a not
too gentle man, Mace was
sprayed and several patrons left
with tears in their eyes. Regina
proceeded to redecorate the
bar's entrance with a beer mug.
Management apparently
didn’t care for the decorations
and fired Regina on the spot.
Lennie left with her in protest.
Now that’s even hotter than
our Knoxville battles!
In our last issue one of
the writers covering the state
of Tenn or should I say one
bar in Tennessee accused me
of being biased and dizzy in
reporting who is working
where here in ‘K’ Town, ft
seems to me that B.L. does
not realize that I generally
write my report approx,
three weeks before it goes to
print and as you know very
well things can and will
change drastically in a three
week span.
I wrote at that time that
our Miss Gay Tennessee,
Jamie Chambers is working
as showdirector at the
Europa Gub in Knoxville not
realizing that Miss Cham
bers would pack up and move
to the Carousel Gub the very
next day where she is
Showdirector now. B.L. will
soon realize that he might
have to eat his own words in
the next issue especially
when it comes to where
certain queens are working
since they have a habit of
moving about fast enough to
keep several moving 1 com
panies busy at all times. If
B.L. reads his last report
carefully he will know what I
am talking about since one of
the people he listed at a
certain club has since
changed employment.
I am sorry if I have of
fended anyone and I
apologize for any errors in
my report and I will now try
to tell how things are going
at this time hoping it will last
till this matter goes to print.
CHATTANOOGA - Last
month I devoted my j entire
report to the Go-Gq j Gub
since they held the Tifi-State
Pageant. The Go Go Club
had a new face lift and really
looks great and action on
weekends is very cruisy.
Wade Hampton the j pwner
tells me that hi& new
showdirector Kelly Keebler
is doing a fine job and I
understand the shows on Fri-
Sat and Sundays are very
impressive. Who is that
beautiful queen waiting
tables...Gosh is she ever
beautiful...this old man got
all worked up but had to
settle on going home with the
old lady instead. Are Bill
and Wendy still going
strong?
7 - THE B ARB, Septem her 1976
NASHVILLE - EMBERS
CABARET has a new cast
member! Our friend Tina
Louise is now working at
Embers and I know she will
add a lot to their shows...
The Other Side is Nash
ville’s best Cruising place
and always has good en
tertainment and trade and
drinks are excellent.
KNOXVILLE - Paid a visit to
the Carousel Club...It was
my first trip there since they
remodeled and I must say
they did a beautiful job.
Eddie was playing the latest
tunes on their new sound
system, ft was shownight
and Jamie Chambers and ner
cast put on a fantastic show.
What a great talent Porshe
Logan is; Her hand
movements are the best I
have, seen in a long time.
Chuck the owner, Jo Anne,
James, Peggy and Jackson
treated me royally and by the
time I left I felt no pain at all.
europa club...
Bobbie and Larry are doing a
fine job running the place
and the shows are under the
direction of Mr. Jimmy Dee
better known as the Diana
Ross of the South.
Shownights are Wednesday
and Sunday and cast
members are Miss Gay Tri 1
State Chrystal Lambega -
Kimberly Dee - Darla Child,
who will be back to school at '
MTSU by the time you read
this and Kendra Montego. j
Guest performers last month
were Tilly Plumkin, Simone :
Signoret, Shannon
DeVaughn, Gina St. John ■
and Rufus. Missey Brown
alias Dr. Pepper also did
another show and again took
the house down.
Coming attractions in-1

(615) 522-0032 - By the way I
understand that Tennessee’s
representatives Jamie
Chambers and Chrystal
Lambega did a fine job at the
recent Miss Gay America
Pageant in Houston Texas.
Chrystal made it to the finals
and we are very proud of
them both.
Hope things stay cool at least
till next time!

If you are too old or
too tired to do any serious
boogieing, then the
CAROUSEL CLUB is not for
you. But, for anyone who is
looking for the very best in
cruising, entertainment,
good food and drinks, and
really hot disco music, then
the CAROUSEL CLUB is
exactly what you’re looking
for. If you’ve never visited
our club, be sure your head is
in at least half-way working
order when you arrive,
because if the new lights on
the dance floor and Eddie’s
music doesn’ give your brain
a buzz, then the drinks that
our bartenders (James,
Barbara, Jackson, and
David) make you will
definitely affect the way you
think!
Eddie Lyons (one piece of
chicken Colonel Sanders
hasn’t plucked) our ‘dancin’
disco D. J., spends most of
his waking hours searching
out and taping hot new songs
from Gotham, the West
Coast and Atlanta. Eddie
works seven nights a week
and his dance music simply
cannot be beat.
Variety is definitely the
spice of life and that’s
exactly what the CAROUSEL
CLUB is offering. Located
directly above the Carousel I,
“Jamie Chambers’ Evening
of Entertainment’’ at the
Carousel II, featuring Miss
Gay Tennessee herself of
Friday, Saturday and Sunday
nights. A completely unique
atmosphere awaits you at the
Carousel II. Jackson (Betty)
Long, our ex-Air Force
honey, puts a personal
guarantee on his delicious
mixed drinks. (Rumor has it
that Betty is attempting to do
the entire Knoxville Sox
baseball team-good luck,
Betty!) The lights dim, an
overture begins and the
magic starts. ..Daffodil
Murphy almost splits her
pedal pushers (as the
audience splits their sides)
doing “It’s My Party”
followed by a fantastic
impersonation of Lady Bird
Johnson. Adrian Sanchez,
Miss Gay Chattanooga,
never fails to leak any less
stunning jn one of her many
g orgeous outfits, and sexy
rancine Wilson has been
known to bring the house
down doing “Lady Bump”
and “Love Hangover”. The
newest addition to Jamie’s
cast is the Latin Lovely,
Roxanne, who, in a short
period of weeks, has won her
way into the hearts of
everyone in Knoxville.
Believe me, if I’m gay-then
Roxanne is simply flawless,
and that leaves room for no
doubt Incidentally, for
those of you who will
remember the SALOON in
Nashville, Roxanne, along
with Criss Cross and Carrie
Dennis, were the first in the
state of Tennessee to bring
