TENNESSEE TALES
MISS GAY KNOXVILLE
1976 IS CROWNED
August 31st saw a
special event happen in
Knoxville at the Europa
Club. The “Miss Gay
Knoxville” pageant was
held before a capacity
aidience. There were 14
contestants entered from
Atlanta, Nashville, and
there were three who
entered from Knoxville.
Hats off to the
management of the Europa
Club for running one of the
best held pageants I have
ever seen. The stage was
specially built for the
pageant and it was
beautiful. The owner of
the Otherside has a new
Stage that looks very
familiar.
I arrived at the pageant
at 8:01 p.m. to. find it
packed except for a table in
the very back, we took it
aid we stood on our chairs
to see. First, came evening
g3wn which saw Francine
Wilson of the Carousel
t Qub debut an original
design by the Latin lovely
Ifoxann, needless /to say
Francine won the evening
gpwn competition. I Next
was' sportswear, which saw
Andrian Sanchez also of the
Carousel, surprise the
aidience when sne modeled
her sportswear with a black
poodle which performed
excellently. That along
^Mgth the stunning ojutfit she
*wore. She walked away
winning sportswear; Talent
was next on the agenda
which saw Regina: Ray of
Nashville brought the house
cbwn with her version of
“Until its time fpr you to
gp”. The excitement was
high and tense When they
announced the 5 finalists.
The first announced was
Efarla Child, then Kendra
Montego, of the Europa
: Gub, Francine Wilson of
the Carousel Qub. This
was amazing considering
the fact that only three
entered from Knoxville and
all made the top five
finalists.
Before I tell you how it
turned out let me tell you
who some of the special
guests were that en
tertained us during dress
changes. YOur emcees
were Miss Jimmy Dee of
Europa and Miss Billie
Boots of the Cabaret in
Nashville. The newly
crowned Miss Gay Ten
nessee, Jamie I Chambers
and Miss Gay Georgia,
Mcki Lawrence. Miss Gay
Tri-state, Krystal Lambega
was also there doing some
super hot numbers.
Stars were shining that
night in Knoxville as 2nd
nmner-up was Francine
Wilson of the Carousel
Qub. Regina Ray of Nash
ville, now Knoxville since
die was joined the cast at
the Carousel Qub, and was
diosen 1st runner-up. The
tension was tight as
Andrian Sanchez also of the
Carousel Qub was chosen
Mss Gay Knoxville 1976.
Hats off again to
management of the Europa
Qub for a beautifully run
pageant!
Well it seems every
month something new has
happened with the shows at
the Carousel Qub. Miss
Gay _ Tennessee, Jamie
Chambers now jboasts the
new slogan, “Home of the
Winners”, since ithe newly
crowned Miss Gay
Knoxville, Andrian Sanchez
is in the shows at the
^Carousel along with 2nd
"runner-up, Francine
Wilson, 1st runner-up,
Regina Ray has now. joined
the shows at the Carousel
along with Miss Gay
Indiana, Roxann, you have
die “Home of the Win
ners”.
Remodeling seems to be
the name of the game with
Qiuck, since he has built a
brand new stage upstairs at
the Carousel II. He ajso
panelled the whole upstairs
and it looks beautiful. I’ve
heard rumors of a new
carpet and a new bar top
and I hope they come true.
Fran, Dickey, our own
Ginger Rogers, has come
back to work after falling
on the dance floor and
breaking her arm, welcome
back Fran! Your bar
tenders still are James,
alias Michelle Lee, David,
dias Peggy, who seems to
have something for
bathrooms, and Jackson,
who didn’t succeed with
any of the K-sox baseball
players. Jackie Dale who
gjves great massages,
Charlie and Fran are your
waiters. Eddie is your D.J.
who is playing some of the
finest music in the South.
Bob is still in the deli
waiting impatiently for his
true love to come back from
Illinois. Jo Ann is still at
the front door looking for
dl the blue boys. That’s
about it for this month, so
uitil later. Take Care!
JACKSON
Leigh and Steve Wright,
our handsome male lead,
sang a duet together. They
did “Let Me Be There v . It
was beautiful. Standing
side by side, they looked
and sounded as if they
were made to sing
together.
On August 27th and
28th, Lisa King, Miss Gay
Atlanta '76, was here
looking as lovely as ever.
Lisa and our regulars
knocked the crowd over
with their version of “CO
CO”. It was great.
Coming up on Sept. 3rd
and 4th, Daisy Dalton will
be here with us. Daisy is
one wild woman.
On Sept. 19th, Rachel
Wells will be doing a
special here. This is one
show you don’t want to
miss.
Our regulars are really
putting on some dy-no-mite
diows.
Cheerleader has added a
touch of France to her
name. She is now known
as Madamousille
Cheerleader. You never
blow what to expect from
Cheerleader.
Candy is still as
beautiful as ever. This is
one queen that gives me
the blues. I wished I had
half her looks and she had
all of mine.
The Divine Miss ‘K’,
Kelly Keebler, is just as
mad as ever. She keeps
the crowd tom up with her
Qadys and Bette Middler
impersonations. She is a
fine -show-dir ecto r.
Steve Wright, our male
lead, has won alot of fans
hv his singing. He really
put the feeling into a song;
LATE SPECIAL - Regina; especially, “Send In the
Ray kept with her Qowns”. That is one
reputation of flyingoff the beautiful song and the way
other night and she’s left Steve does it makes it even
Jamie’s cast!
