TWO BULLS IN A
MALE HAREM
Robert Fraum has
combined a bit of
leather and adventure
into an erotic treat. ^The
setting is Cairo at the
turn of the century. The
American Counsul, a
devout Mormon, is
enraged by the ab
duction of his son. The
British and the
American governments
endevour to save the
boy from the clutches of
white slavery.
Double agents,blood
curdling danger and
erotic pleasures keep
you turning the pages.
Marvelous illustrations
and a few photos from
Sheik Alharazed’s
private album. . The
photos are hot but not in
keeping with the cen
tury erotica of the book.

I was merely trying
to say it would be nice to
have a really close
friendship with another
guy with whom I could
share intimate sexual
feelings and desires. A
relationship built on
give and take is the only
way-to build a lasting,
meaningful friendship.
It can’t be all one way or
the other.
I don’t feel I could
limit myself to just a
male-to-male affair. I
beleive that it’s possible
for a person to have
close relationships with
m embers’ of both sexes
at the same time. Since
male and female both
have so much to offer,
why limit yourself to
one or the other? (As an
example, fictional
though it may be,
“Saturday Night at the
Baths,” a bisexual film
of a year or two ago was
excellent.)
As looking for par
tners in the “Swinger”
type groups, all they are
are “meat markets” in
most cases and not my
style.
Then in referance to
fags, I again find myself
apologizing. That word
is very negative and
crass; a poor choice
under the cir
cumstances. What I
meant was that I don’t
like guys who walk
around with limp wrists,
lisps and feminine
mannerisms. As far as
I’m concerned, the male
body is beautiful and
male mannerisms are
sensual and a real turn
on. They’re something
to be proud of, not
contorted and mocked.
Maybe this is a matter
of personal preferance
or my ignorance of the
gay world as it really is.
Be that as it may, I have
to base my conclusions
on what I’ve seen and
that’s what J’ve seen.
Stereotyping? Maybe.
Sex to me is a very
important part of living,
not to be taken lightly.
It’s a means of physical
expression of the desire
of two persons, mental
beings (souls, if you
will), to communicate in
the closest way possible
for' human beings' One
night stands provide
momentary physical
pleasure but leave the
soul unsatisfied. It’s
that hallow, empty
feeling so many people
have. If it’s true that it’s
a meeting of the minds
ANNOUNCING
THE
COLLECTION
that counts, what dif
ference does it make
what sex each other is?
Again, it’s the old device
of societies and morals
that screw up something
that should be natural.
I hope I did a better
job this time of getting
my point across, and T
hope you understand.
I’m really not a bad guy,
you know. Sincerely
(and I meant that),
John
Dear John :
You were right: it
was a breakdown in
communication...and
you have gained not
only absolution, but my
respect as well. Your’re
not only “not a bad
guy,” but you’re pretty
all right.
As for bisexuality,
it’s in us all and is not
something to be con-
demed but to be ap-
pluded...if it’s properly
exercised. Like all
sexuality.
You will probably
appreciate one of Gore
Vidal’s better
remarkes. “—(many)
cannot accept the
following simple fact of
so many lives (certainly
my own): that it is
possible to have a
mature sexual
relationship with a
woman on Monday, and
a mature sexual
relationship with a man
on Tuesday, and
perhaps on Wednesday
have both together
(admittedly you have to
be in good condition for
this).” |

future when Earth’s

wizards. Good Avatar
uses magic to keep his
elves happy, while
wicked Blackwolf stirs
up his goblins and

technology.
The style is
somewhere between
Disney and Tolkien; but
it’s distinctively Bakshi,
the most progressive
American animator.
FELLINI’S CASANOVA
A gay opera-ballet is
as grotesque as
everything else in
Fellini’s Casanova, a
film which makes sex
seem dull and joyless.
Fellini generally
fnanages a few
moments of interest as
he parades his bizarre
fantasies before the
camera; but this time,
loosely basing his
episodes on the
memoirs of “the world’s
greatest lover,” he
hardly even varies the
degree of tedium he
offers.
The lovely young
men--hardly more than
extras-appear in a
sequence which ends
with a copulation
competition (not in
volving them). They’re
among the rare glim
pses of beauty in
Fellini’s Casanova.
THE SENTINEL
There are some
lesbian characters
(Sylvia Miles and
Beverly d’Angelo) in
The Sentinel, but they
turn out not to exist.
Realtor Ava Gardner
(another survivor of
The Cassandra
Crossing) acts like she
might be interested in
the heroine (Christina
Raines) herself when
she lowers the rent to
get her to take an
apartment in the
building which turns out
to be the star of the
picture.
Raines just wants a
place of her own to get
her selfhood back after
living with Chris
Sarandon for a couple of
years. She still may
marry him, but she
wants to think....
, The building gives
her plenty to think
about, with hot and cold
running weirdos who
may be neighbors or
may be figments. Then
come the headaches and
other-pardon the ex
pression-omens....
The Sentinel is really
interesting for most of
its length; but all’s well
that ends well, and it
ends badly. I could
accept the conclusion,
but not the way writer-
director Michael
Winner brings it about.
It’s sad to see a good
ball game lost in the
ninth inning.

Merriment and music
abounded at the Roma
Country Club in Bir
mingham on January
22nd, 1977 when MKA-
Birmingham presented
their first fantastic Bal
Masque. Although the
Birmingham Club was
only founded in August
of last year, the Club
has proven to be one of
the top charters of the
original founding New
Orleans Club. Hundreds
and hundreds of
delighted guests in
formal attire and
beautiful evening gowns
were the honored guests
along with the members
from other MKA Clubs
in Memphis, LaFayette
and New Orleans. The
theme of the Bir
mingham Bal Masque
was “Shady Ladies in
History” and the
Captian signaled the
beginning of the Bal
Masque with the
blowing of his whistle
thus unfolding the
tableau with the official
debutants, the Captain
himself and the Ball
Lieutenant portraying
the ■ most famous
“Shady Lady” ever, the
glamorous, enchanting
and enticing Miss Mae
West. Next came the
masked Dukes who
escorted the other
“Shady Ladies”...the
Maids of the Court who
portrayed Baby Jane,
Lulu White, Jezebel,
Annie Palmer, Belle
Whatley and last but not
least, Sweet Charlotte.
The MKA -
Birmingham’s first
King and Queen were
introduced to the or
derly cheering and
aplauding crowd. All in
(all, it was a beautiful
evening to remember.
We say congratulations
to MKA - Birmingham
for such a well planned
and produced event.
Those who attended will
not soon forget.
