Drivin' n' Cryin
Flagpole: Some of the songs on the
first record Scarred But Smarter)
cover things like the homeless. Do
you think that people at your shows
are aware of that? Do they know what
you’re talking about?
Kevin Kinney: Hopefully we phrase
it in a way that they can undestand
that. If we're rockin' out on a song and
we don't enunciate it right then we'll
try and bring it down. Hopefully, it
works, I don't know. Have you seen us
recently?
Flagpole: Yeah, you’ve slowed
down "Gotta Move On" and people
can hear what you're saying more
clearly.
. . i
Kevin: I hope so. It's always a long
process to get people to care about
other people instead of just
themselves. T h# whole vibe of the
show is like that. The fact that we
actually say "homeless" in one of cur
songs, you know. That's blatant. But,
there are people that have homes,
people that aren't homeless, that have
just as many problems because they
don't have friends or all their friends
have moved away. We're just really
interested in people getting along with
other people because that’s what you
have to do if you're going to be here
for 65 years. So, it's not jus the
homeless, there's people with
mansions in there too. I don't sing for
just the rich or the poor, because
we're all from - our dads have some
money. But that guy on the street is
the most obvious.
Flagpole: You’ve just done a record
for Island. What differences did you
find between recording for a major
label and an independent label like
688?
