The Superstar
talks to a
Supergroup
Superstar JT, Atlanta's best-known rock
critic with hair, interviewed Chris “The
Pole" Robinson of Mr. Crowe's
Garden en route to Athens, flying past
Loganville's Little Nashville, Eric Dolphy 8-
track blaring, finger out the window, pork
rinds on the floor board. JT renigged on a
speaking engagement at NYU to rap with
tne Southeast's most elusive rock genius.
JT: So what do think about Bob Dylan
playing at Chastain?
CR: Well, first you gotta think that BOB is a
legend and everything, but who wants to
see him play with The Alarm? I think he'll be
bummed when he gets there and he'll
go look for a black chick.
JT: Lately you guys seem to be more
influenced by bands like Poison and Guns
and Roses. Is this part of the big picture or
is it just some chick trip for you personnally?
CR: The only chick trip with Poison is trying
to do them. But we put our chick trip in our
pockets.
JT: (yeah, right)
CR: Now Guns and Roses have an
attitude, kind of like the Replacements if
they gave a shit. I mean none of us take
our shirts off on stage.
JT: (thank god) If you guys could open
for anyone who would it be?
%
CR: Aerosmith, but we would have to cut
some of the remaining jangle and make
Rich wear makeup. Or better
yet, just have Mary My Hope come out
and lip sine to our songs.
JT: You guys are thinking about signing a
major deal. What is the fine print going to
read?
