R.E.M.'S
Secret Out
R.E.M. pulled another surprise
show at the 40 Watt Friday, July
8th, but it turned out to be no
surprise. Despite attempts to
keep the.gig a secret, word got
out on the streets and it was
even announced on WUOG. The six
song set was mostly new material
that will appear on the group's
next album, which is due out in
the fall.. The eveftt was filmed
by local photographer Jim McKay
on 8mm for a Warner Brothers
Records in-house promotional
video’clip.
The band had just returned

large number of the star-seekers
departed and allowed a more.
relaxed and musically attuned
crowd to enjoy the other two
bands of the evening. A new
band, Lou Siffer, played an
energetic metal set that
reflected the stage experience of
its members. Everyone in Lou
Siffer is either currently in the
Kilkenny Cats or has been before.
Cats Alan Keith and Sean reunited
with Clifton Hill to tear down a
powerful metal set. The Primates
then got up and played a non-stop
raucous selection that showed
everyone that these guys are
serious rockers and that their
hard work has paid off. This was
probably one of the best sets
