Piles Of Pylon
So, what's up with Athens’ premier rock band? Well, Pylon has just finished two days of
recording at John Keane's studio with producer Scott Litt. Litt has fceon doing a lot of work
around Athens lately, but is probably best known around these parts as the producer of
REM’s "Document’’ album. Pylon was recording a brand new song called ‘Sugac Pop",
which was written just three weeks ago. The band recorded this song for a future album
project that is in the works. Litt was only available for the two day span, but will be working
on the rest of the album when it is recorded. The album is not going to be on Pylon’s former
label, dB records. According to their manager Jennifer Blair, it is too early to say which label
the album will be on since negotiations are still under way. The band will be playing that fun-
filled music seminar, South By Southwest before they have a chance to record again. They
are scheduled to appear at Liberty Lunch, one of Austin’s larger venues on March 15.
Walkin’ Kinney
Be at the 40 Watt Thursday and Friday, March 1 and 2, to see Kevn Kinney, lead singer
for Drivin' and Cryin’, perform his own acoustic material. Kinney has recently released his
first solo album, “McDougal Blues," which was produced by Athens’own Peter Buck. Buck
also lends a hand to Kinney by preforming with him on stage Come on out to the Watt to
hear some great music from a very talented guy with a little help from his friends.
