You love the night life? You want to boogie? Well, you
can do just that at the 40 Watt tonight, and to those very
lyrics. It seems Alicia Bridges, whose song brought to
gether a blood-sucking George Hamilton and his batty
lover in Love at First Bite, will be making a guest appear
ance at DJ Marc Wallace’s Disco Hell. Hey, the perfect
opportunity for you to get out your 70s nostalgia duds and
be really, really cool.
What if you want to cleanse yourself of all society's
shameless abuse on your soul 7 Then you need to be at
the BoB Devival at the Downstairs. Part religious experi
ence, part bitch session . Trusty’s gonna tell you all you
need to know about Them. You know who They are. They
take away your slack, They make you work for measly
wages and then, They bill you.
And for the rest of you. those that ain't bitchin' or dancin',
there’s that band from Wisconsin, the BoDeans. I get
alternate stories on this one. On the one hand, they're a
fairly good band, worth checking out. On the other hand,
they've been accused of sounding too much like other
bands (like, for instance, the Alarm or the lesser-known
R E M , even). And though Hillary tells me otherwise, I
would almost swear they were in a beer commercial
once... just something about their name...

On this lovely evening, you might check out l otion at the
Colorbox. For once, they're not just opening up for Pylon.
Wow It may not be the Uptown Lounge anymore, but it's
still a pretty cool place to see bands. And the sound
system won’t rip your ears out.
Dos Guys, Dos Guys, Dos Guys.. I’ve been hearing that
name all week. Word has it that as far as cover bands go,
Dos Guys beats all you ever saw And dere at de
Odyssey. And a little birdie informed me that Dos Guys
will perform any song that you call out . Led Zeppelin, Free
Bird, whatever Hey, anything's worth a go, at least once

Okay, so I'm biased. But I really honestly truly believe
to the bottom of my soul that you can't find no better time
no where else than at the 40 Watt, where the Flagpole staff
will be uniting en masse to celebrate our humble III’
magazine’s fourth anniversary. That’s right, a party. In
response to the heinous rumor that we are a bunch of over
worked ink-addicts who sit around playing Shang-hai on
the Macintosh for cheap thrills, we throw this one your way.
Oedipus Longfellow and Petey Wheatstraw are gonna be
entertaining the crowd. You may have heard their latest hits
on that late-night trucker station that comes out of New
Orleans. (Okay, I guess you expected really famous
people to perform at our party. But Petey and Oedipus are
rcallymce, hard-working guys..and I don't think that honky-
tonk and jazz fusion is such a bad combination Besides,
they’re really hard-up for cash.) Also, expect a special ap
pearance by Bruce Joiner and his band, Out of the Fire
Ow. too hot to touch.

If you don’t want to get stampeded by the crowd that’s
gonna be in Georgia Theater for the Mary's Damsh/Carm-
val Art show, then you should make a little visit to the newest
arrival to the club scene, LT’s. Oh, come on, it's not THAT
far And besides, the light show there has great promise.
With a little support, this could be a really happenin’ place
Tonight, they're serving up a band called Bobby Rodgers
& the Ides of March. This is one of those half-original, half
cover bands. They're along the radio rock vein.. .a little AC/
DC, a little Led Zeppelin, you get the# drift. I mean, there’s
so many cover bands playing this week, you should at least
see one. jus* to get it out of your system And you probably
haven’t been to this club yet, so go.

Fall from Grace At the Downstairs. Their press kit says
that they "once again prove Tucson to be a virtual music
oasis " Well,! can’t say I've ever been to Tucson, so I don't
know. But this is a really good way to get in the Halloween
spirit Sure to be the hot topic the next day at lunch Some
mock suicides, some fake crucifixion scenes and other fun
stuff have been a part of their past shows. Sounds like a
winner to me. And how often do you get to see Gothic
horror bands?
Tuesday, October 28
It’s comedy night at E T.'s Palace. Not that I'm going to
twist your arm or anything, but I think you need something
to laugh about (other than your poor grades, lack of sleep
and/or your disconnected phone service)
