Purple
Propaganda
The Violets are playing their last show of the year in
Athens before their upcoming tour of the eastern part of the
U S. in December. The Violets have e single you should buy
at local record shops recorded for Crisis Discs. "I Hate the
Grateful Dead" b/w “Big Wheel" is doing well in indy record
stores and even Europe received a batch of them and is
reportedly about "sold-out." The guys really ought to have
sent more than 2 you know. The Violets are Jimmy Guthrie,
Lee Garrard, Dr. Ernie Ward, and Jay Coyle. We’ve heard
Jerry Garcia is a big fan. They’ll be playing at the Downstairs
on Saturday, Dec. 23 with New York's Drunken Boat opening.
A really
grape time
Waaay back a long time ago, I wrote in my column the
words “I always have a good time at The Grapes," and the
bells of those words still ring true. These guys have a new
album out, a following in lotsa places, and have remained
really nice through it all. Occasionally, Atlanta’s loss is our
gam, and for one night, Grapiness abounds and this is true.
The venue is The Georgia Theatre, and that date you need to
rememember is Monday, December 2. You won’t forget,
now. will you? (30.)
Hold on tight!
The 40 Watt wants you to. Thornyhold and Hayride meet
up (or beet up for you vegetarians) on Wednesday night,
November 20, to bring you two-for-the-price-of-one. That’s
the kind of double-teaming that comes in handy, especially
so near the end of the quarter, when the money trickles down
to nothing flat, huh? Well, bring your camping gear and line
up outside early for tickets, ’cause this 'un’s a good’un—y'all
hear mih tawkin’? (30.)
