14th Annual Athens Human Rights Festival Art Auction
— The Human Rights Festival wifi be heldagain this year in
College Square May 9 and 10. The Festival originally began
in 1978 as a rally to memorialize the Kent State Massacre
and has grown into a weekend event featuring speakers,
musirians, information booths, and many other events. Money
raised is being slated for a local non-profit group and one of
the ways the Festival raises money is by holding an art
auction. In the past, artists that have donated works include
Howard Finster, Pat Cardiff. Mose Tolliver, Michael
Lachowski, Michaal Stipe,
and Greg Benson. The Art
Auction Committee is now
accepting donations for this

Announcements:
Jim Hanna - (Graphic Design) is currently working on the
design of a new credit verification computer and a separate
pnnter for MicroBill Corporation. This equipment will be
added to a family of credit computers previously designed.
Carole Henry - (Art Education) received a $500 Instruc
tional Improbement Grant to purchase and implement the
Museum Art Education Library, a microfiche compilation of
curricula materials developed by the education departments
of major American art museums.
Rob Jackson - (Jewelry/Metalsmithing) currently has a
steel, fold and ruby brooch entitled Resurrection accepted in
the exhibition, ‘Form and Object: Contemporary Interpreta
tion of Craft Traditions,* at the University of Wyoming Art
Museum. The exhibition is scheduled to travel to nine other
locations through Dec. 1993.
William Sapp - (Sculpture) is exhibiting drawings at The
John Lyman Center, Southern Connecticut University in New
Haven, Connecticut through April.
