preserve and enhance the character, integrity, aesthetics and sense ot com
munity in the Five Points area, wilt hold their next monthly meeting Thurs

Support. Female survivors ol incest can find help through the Incest Sup
port Group offered by the Rape Crisis Center (R.C.C.) of Northeast Georgia.
R.C.C. also oilers assistance to women who have been sexually assaulted,
harassed or stalked. Both services are free of charge. Call the Center al

Volunteer. The Fifth Annual Run/Walk lor Home 5K needs volunteers to
assist with a variety ol activities. The event, held Saturday, April 13, will
raise funds to benefit local human service agencies including the Athens
Area Homeless Shelter, Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, Athens Area Habitat
for Humanity, Georgia Nurses' Foundation/Athens Clinic for the Homeless.

Pond life. Sandy Creek Nature Center
invites preschool children and their par
ents to the first "Eatin’ with the Critters"
lunchtime special Thursday, April 11,
trom noon-1 p.m. Participants in "Wa
ter Wonderland" will use their eyes,
hand lenses and microscopes lo explore
the lives of the liny creatures who in

homes and hideouts in the first of their
spring preschool programs, "Hoppin'

Day camp. Registration for Sandy
Creek Park’s Summer Day Camp for kids
7-12 will be held Saturday, April 13,
from 9 a.m.-noon. Kids must be 7 by
Sept. 1. Bring your child's birth certifi
cate. Cost is $55 per child, per session
for county residents. The camp includes
four one-week sessions and starts June
24. Full and partial scholarships are
available, but you must register for them

Scavenger hunt. Kids 4 and 5 can join
Sandy Creek Park for “I Wonder What I
Can Find?," part of the Nature Tykes
Series Tuesday, Aoril 16. from noon-1
p.m. Kids will go on a nature scavenger
hunt and use their treasures to make a
take-home craft. $1 county residents; $2

Ueder. Baritone Arnold Michaelis and

Ben Burton. Ben Burton Park will have
a volunteer workday Sunday, April 14,
from 1-4 p.m. Help with trail mainte
nance, litter pick-up, etc. Tools and

Project Safe. Project Sate Inc. wilt
conduct orientation and training for new
volunteers April 23.24 and 25. Volun
teers may provide peer counseling on a
24-hour hotline to women suffering
from domestic abuse or work with
women and their children in a shelter.

Baseball. The UGA Diamond Dawgs
play Georgia Southern April 10 (4 p.m.)
and Clemson April 16 (7 p.m.) at home.
Reserved seats: $5; unreserved: $4

Tennis. The Georgia men's team will
meet Florida April 10 at 2:30 p.m.. North
Carolina April 14 (6 p.m.) and Missis
sippi State April 16 (2:30 p.m.). The
women's team will take on South Caro
lina April 17 al 2 p.m. and Florida April
21 at noon. Matches are free in Henry
Feild Stadium.
Climbing. The Shaking Rock '96
Climbing Competition will be Sunday,
April 14, at Shaking Rock Park in Lex
ington, Ga. Competitors can check in
from 9:30-11 a.m. The bouldering com
petition, consisting of 80 boulder prob
lems (including several top-roped prob
lems rated trom 1-10), will be from 11
a.m.-2 p.m. Each competitor gels two
hou's to work. Awards and raffle are al
3 p.m. Cost is $15 pre; $18 al the event.
All proceeds go to Shaking Rock Park
and the Access Fund. Awards will be
given in beginner, intermediate and ad

Toli. The Flying Rat Toli Team will
practice Sunday, April 14, at 2 p.m. on
Field #8 of the UGA Rec Sports Com
plex (same as every Sunday). Toli is a

Triathlon. UGA Triathlon '96 will be
held Saturday, April 27. The race will
begin and end al the Recreational
Sports Complex (corner of East Cam
pus and College Station roads) and
consists of swimming (.7 miles), cy
cling (20 miles) and running (6.2
miles) through the campus, downtown
Athens and the surrounding residen
