A correction: I previously printed the
Possibilities' web site address as http://
www.athens.net/-spammy/possib.htm, but
that's wrong. Stick an T on the end of that
'htm.' and you're in business. After dialing
this up, you can find all sorts of odd stuff
about the Possibilities, including what records
happen to be on Kevin, Bob and Matt's bed
room floors (i.e. in rotation), their protracted
discography, an interesting entry involving
fishing hooks, and much more. Worth your
time, if you have the time.
Your Saturday afternoon: Featured this
week for Ghostmeat Presents Saturday Af
ternoons at the High Hat will be the Gentle
Readers (from Atlanta) and Patterson Hood
& the Driveby Truckers. The Gentle Read
ers (technically from Decatur) are a multi
armed lush pop outfit who recently came
back from a well-received performance at
South By Southwest. Bassist/vocalist Don
McCollister owns and operates Nickel & Dime
Studios in Atlanta and vocalist/guitarist Su
san Fitzsimmons was previously a member
of the Vulgar Boatmen. Lee Cuthbert (gui
tar) and Andrew Simmons (drums) round out
this project, and are pretty swell folks in their
own right. Patterson Hood & the Driveby
Truckers are, well, Patterson Hood (armed
with a multitude of new songs) and, tenta
tively, John Neff (pedal steel), Barry Sell (man
dolin), and Adam Howell (upright bass). FYI,
this show will coincide with the bike race, so
get there early. REMEMBER: this show is from
4-7 p.m. For further info (booking, etc.) call
your local Ghostmeat representative at 549-
9485.
Yet another good
cause: The fine folks out at
Red House Media have put
together an outdoor multi-
act show to benefit Com
munity Connection.
DAYTRIP will take place
Sunday, April 28, at Red
House Media Studios on
the Danielsville Road.
Scheduled to perform are
In Like Flynn, Brides Of
Jesus, Day By The River,
Phat Phive and Athens
Grass. Purchase advance
tickets at Big Shot Records
for $6/$8 at the gate, OR
you can call 549-0474 for
Visa/MC orders. Parking is
limited and you can't bring
glass, but coolers are wel-
Homewreckers. Although this label has
maintained a fairly high level of quality (and
despite Mr. Pilvinsky’s misgivings about this
record), this one, produced by Mr. Harper
and recorded up in Little Five Points, is ex
ceptionally swell. Haunt your record stores,
bug the clerks (especially Dave Marr), what
ever it takes. There. I did it.
They stuck it out, and...: The band
Michael has released its first 7', "Wide
Awake" / "Potential,” on their very own
GOODBIonde Records. The single was re
corded up at Furies Studios with Mr. Ed
Burdell and Schchar Oren, and was produced
oenne Headers
come, and they recommend that you carpool.
For additional info, call Chris at 549-0474.
Also, check out their web page at http://
www.redhouse.com. Bring your sunblock.
Ex-Coolie: Clay Harper (pizza magnate
and Atlanta-music guru) has just recently re
leased the latest CD from Les Homewreckers
on his own Casino Records, simply Les
by those two along with the band. Nice art
work, and friends, this band has grown up.
Worth checking out. Contact the boys at
GOODBIonde at P.O. Box 3268, Athens, GA
30612-1268, or call 546-5801.
Next stop, the Ryman: Word has come
down from on high (in the startling visage
of Frank Mason) that the inimitable Star
Room Boys will open for a certain Doug Stone
for the Twilight Criterium's Feature Perfor
mance at the new Classic Center Theatre.
A couple of pointers: (1) I don't know a
whole heck of a lot about this Doug Stone
character. I understand that he's pretty popu
lar on most major country radio stations, and
that he commands a fairly large audience,
so I'm assuming there'll be a whole passel o.
folks in attendance.
(2) This show will conceivably expose the
Star Room Boys to a whole new audience,
which naturally translates into more money,
more chicks and the inevitable appearance
of Dave Marr on the
cover of Top Country Hits
magazine (thereby trans
forming Mr. Marr into a
bona fide heart-throb. Or
something.).
(3) Technically, the
show will begin at 8 p.m.
Friday, April 26. Now,
since the Star Room Boys
have been added to this
show, things might begin
earlier. Call the Classic
Center Box Office for fur
ther details at 357-4444,
or just stop Frank Mason
or one of the boys on the
street.
And finally: If you
have any news or info for
Yer Goody, call me
Wednesdays at 549-
9523, or write me at P.O. Box 1027, Athens,
GA, 30603.
That's Yer Goody for the week of 4-24-
96.
Never ask Curtiss Pernice to dislocate his

NEVER!
