Street Comers, Whiskey Bars and Hotel Rooms Where Music History Was
Made, by Tim Perry and Ed Glinerl, published by Fodor's Travel Publica
tions, $16.50. This is a book I don't actually own yet (hint, hint, hint) but I've
looked at it several times in bookstores in various cities mostly to aid my
sightseeing and give me some guidance on where to hear music. I do
think it would be a fabulous front-to-back read Like most Fodor's travel
guides, it is arranged by state and lists musical landmarks both current
and historical (for instance, where the Beatles played their first U.S. con
cert). I can't vouch for the accuracy since I've only consulted it a few
times. I'm still a little ticked off that I didn't think of writing this book.
• Everything Elvis by Joni Mabe, published by Thunder's Mouth
Press, $29.95 I know by now you’ve read of our own Ms. Mabes
latest book within these pages or elsewhere, but I couldn't resist men
tioning it again. It is one of my favorites, and, darn it, if her Elvis museum
cant stay permanently installed somewhere close (like my house), then
the book is the next best thing. If you
haven't seen this book, you must!
