Festivals/Events
Christmas in Dixie. Christmas in
Dixie, featuring lights by the thou
sand, carols and assorted holiday
tableaux, is open every evening till
New Year's Day. To get there, follow
Hwy. 78 through Lexington u-
mately 15 miles); on the othei side
of Lexington, turn right onto Georgia
22. Christmas in Dixie is seven miles
down Hwy. 22 on the right.
Season of Reflection. Pomset-
tias, topiary and thousanos of white
lights decorate the State Botanical
Garden's Visitor Center, Callaway
E eliding and Day Chapel till Monday,
Dec. 30. Hours are Monday-Saturday
from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Sunday
from 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Tree recycling. Sandy Creek Na
ture Center will serve as a drop-off
point for Christmas tree recycling
Dec. 26-Jan. 31. The resulting wood
chips will be used to help maintain
the trails. If you bring your tree by
Saturday, Jan. 4, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.,
you'll be given a free seedling. Call
