In 1946, two young black coupes were lynched — tier! up
and shot hundreds of times by a group of white men at the
Moore's Ford Bridge that connects Oconee and Walton coun
ties The incident outraged a nation, yet locals were silent
and investigators were unable to arrest any suspects.
Citizens of .all races and backgrounds from Oconee. Walton
and surrounding counties have banded together to memori
alize the victims and initiate an overdue healing process
