• The Madison County Art Exhibit is seeking entries The cost is $5
for up to three pieces Artwork can be dropped off at the MCCA Library on
Friday, July 31 from 4-7 p.m. or Saturday, August 1, from 11 am.-4 p.m.
The work will hang at the library throughout the month of August, An open
ing reception takes place on Sunday, August 2, from 2-4 p.m.
• Ashiord Manor Bed and Breakfast in Watkinsville announces current
art exhibits including marble and cast bronze sculptures by Chris
Rothermel, outdoor metal sculptures by Alberto Salazarte and Latin
American Fine Art on loan from the Castillo Gallery in Chicago. Call
769-2633 if you plan on dropping by.
• Speaking of Watkinsville, don’t miss “The Family Show” at the
Lowery Gallery, featuring work by over two uozen local artists interpret
ing the subject of family. Participating artists include Kenny Aguar,
Jimmy Buisenos, John Hawkins, Mister Law, Charles Pinkney,
Mary Porter, Katja Seltmann, Lizzie Zucker Saltz and others This
is the final exhibit at the gallery’s Watkinsville location before relocation to

• Current exhibitions at The Georgia Museum of Art include After the
Photo-Secession: American Pictorial Photography, 1910-1955;
Contemporary Georgia Fiber: Five Perspectives; American
Prints of the 1920s; and Isadora Duncan, Muse of Modernism
Remember that Art Excursions are available for area day camps and com
munity centers.
• Open Studios: T he GMOA is hosting an open studio for artists to
enhance their life drawing skills on Wednesday. July 29, from 5:30-8:30
p.m. The fee is $2 to cover the cost of the model. The museum’s new hours
are Tuesday-Satuiday from 10 a m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p m. Call
542-GMOA for details on any events at the museum.
• “Common Ground” is the new traveling exhibition from the
American Print Alliance on display at the Lamar Oodd School of Art
through August 20.
• Local collage artist Ann-Laura Parks presents “dada dames," an online
exhibition through September 25,1988 at http://members.aol com/artthngs.
• Shows around town include: “Seven Athens Artists." work by Elizabeth
Barton, Jill Biskin, Nisa Blackmon, Mary Engel, Annette Hatton,
Susan Nees, and Mary Porter at Aurum Studios; paintings by Katie
Price at The Grit (work by Mary Anne Louise and Meredith Byrne
goes up August 1); “Fireball Sp.ing," photos by Jacqueline Shain at the
ACC Library; “The Mr. Nice Guy Series," paintings by Sara Pattison at
Espresso Royal Caffe paintings by Lucy Calhoun upstairs at the
Athens Brewing Co.; paintings by Jimmy Bursenos at Strand Hair
and Art in Five Points; folk art by Peter Loose, paintings by June
Johnston, and paintings by Valarie, Astra, and Sunny Taylor at Blue
Sky Coffee.
