Comedian Wanda Smith with music by P.G.-n-Effect at the Oconee County Civic
Center. 8 p.m. $20.
“Athens is one of the few cities outside of Atlanta that
has so much to offer the community not only musically but
through other forms of entertainment as well,” says
Barbara Bankston, the organizer of this event. Wanda
Smith, currently a morning show host on Atlanta station V-
103, has been in the comedy business for eight years and
has appeared on BET’s “Def Comedy Jam,” “A Showtime
Comedy Special,” and on Jenny Jones. After Ms. Smith
leaves the audience in stitches, local DJ P.G.-n-Effect will
start spinning records, and the booty shaking will begin.
Audience members are invited to bring their own bever
ages. Planners hope the evening will erupt into a “Dance
Club Atmosphere." Tickets are available at Bert’s Discount
Records on Nellie B. Ave., Wilson Styling Shop downtown
on Hull St., and WestEnd Beauty and Barber on Tallassee
Road. Call 546-6011 for more info.
